Spray Lakes Provincial Park, Alberta!

Bluey and I went on a 5 day; twelve hundred mile; how many different highway/freeways can you take; shoot every sunrise, sunset, and evening possible road trip. Mono Lake was one of our stops.

Female Canvasback

(San Rafael, California)

Was going through my Bandon shots from January and came across this one. The cloud formations in this scene caught my eye. The rock feels more centered than I would like but had to leave it there in order to keep the clouds. Haven't posted on a weekend in months, hopefully some of my friends are out there to say hey :) Hope your weekend is off to a great start and will be catching up on your streams after I get some sleep. As always, thanks for the visit.

Best seen on black, so hit the "L" key

When I arrived at this spot I could not believe how still the waters were and how perfect the reflections were too. There were no bird or anything in the water not even the odd bit of rubbish.

This is a wider view from the original "Reflection Perfection' you can see on the right the Baltimore Tower under construction which when it has been built, I will need a wider lens. It should make for quite an interesting sight, if you haven't seen look it up it's a sort of twisted spiral.

One more from the 2 day sprint through No-Cal with Jean Day, way back in November.

I took several shots from here and from both sides of this little cove, but this was by far the best reflection of all of them all.

... I am not saying that this is a perfect reflection ... I like to rhyme these words ...

The Silver Swan, Who Living Had No Note

The silver swan, who living had no note.

When death approach'd, unlock'd her silent throat;

Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,

Thus sung her first and last, and sung no more.

Farewell, all joys; O Death, come close mine eyes;

More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise.

Nature Made ... Reflection Perfection !

...

Crater Lake National Park

I think this is approaching perfection, in terms of what I set out to capture. Maybe nail varnish would complete this. ;-) There's something so satisfying about picturing something in your head and then finally seeing it on the camera!

The weather conditions this morning were perfect. There was absolutely no wind, the bubbles just hung in the air, and there was even cloud cover - like a giant diffuser created just for me.

The lighting of this shot is natural - sunlight through cloud. The Nikon D90 is great for giving clear images at high ISO (here ISO 800); making this shot possible.

N.B. This is a real photo of a soap bubble bursting. I've made slight edits to raise colour and light, but this is just to add some punch. This is not a Photoshop creation!

This photo is featured in Digital Camera Magazine, October 2009. Chuffed!!

This shot was also flickr blogged on the 4th and 5th of Jan 2010 in the Your Best Shot 2009 group. Great to watch the comments pouring in..... Got 2000 faves in one day! Thanks.

The sun was just about to blast its way over the horizon, it was a still morning in the harbour.

The only ripples to disturb the stillness of the golden reflections across the water were those made by the fishing boat going out. The distant hum of the fishing boat's engine was the only noise to be heard.

Awhile back, I headed to Alviso to try and catch some light. Many of you who have been here know that this place can be a bit stinky. I scouted around a bit and from a distance away, I focused on this composition. This location is usually filled with lots of water, mud, bird poo and everything else you can think of. I told myself if the sky looks like it will develop, then I will make the trek down here. As I walked to this area, I could barely stand the smell. I figured since I bared the smell, I might as well process the image. Have a great week and may the light be with you where ever you are. Jave
