Yesterday, Thursday 28 August I decided to drive to Hirtshals and deliver a 20x40cm canvas picture of ASBJØRN HG.265 private address in Hirtshals. It was a boy of about 8 years and an angry dog who opened the door, I asked the boy to put the picture up on a table so the dog tore it to pieces. I had looked at marine traffic, the ship was in Skagen, but it sailed just before I left home. If the shipowner is interested in ordering pictures, he sends e-mail.

My next task was then to photograph the largest Trawler in Denmark GITTE HENNING, as in a couple of days fished northeast of Scotland. I could see on the web that trawler was returning with a full load. Landing time was somewhat uncertain, so I asked me for the building of dockers who would unload the ship. Here I got a friendly help and then I drove out to a high point at the harbor, where there was a superb view of incoming ships. The timing was very good hit, and by 2030 the time I could see the giant trawler sailing in. I took 43 pictures, and the picture here is one of the last in this series, because I wanted to wait until all the lights were lit with reflections in the water.

FACTS: S 349 'GITTE HENNING' OF SKAGEN

'Gitte Henning' is built on Westwen Baltiga Shipbuilding in Klaipeda in Lithuania.

The ship is owned by Henning Kjeldsen, Skagen.

The ship is 86.5 meters long, 17.6 meters wide and 10.2 meters from sea level to the upper deck. It weighs 4,138 gross tonnes and can carry up to 3,500 tons of fish.

The ship can refuel 500,000 gallons of diesel fuel and uses between 10,000 and 12,000 liters a day. It can operate between 18 and 19 knots.

The ship's radar can spot fish found six kilometers on each side of the boat. That is, an area of ​​12 kilometers in diameter. The radar can also see if the fish is ten or 15 centimeters long and thus large enough to be caught.

The crew of Gitte Hennig exist beyond Henning Kjeldsen of six people. They each have their own little room, which most of all resembles a modern hotel room with private shower and toilet. There are two crews that take turns to fish with the cutter. The salary is a fixed proportion of the catch value, so there is no pay if no fish are caught. But Henning Kjeldsen said that the crew "serve a good annual salary."

Most of the catches landed in Skagen, which helps to make the city the largest fishing port.

Henning Kjeldsens three recently purchased vessels has quickly doubled the total tonnage in Skagen.

Henning Kjeldsen moved with his family to Skagen four years ago. He lives in one of the most expensive houses in the old bascule.

Horseshoe Bend, one of the most photographed areas on the Colorado River, located outside of Page in Arizona.

The overlook is 4,200 feet (1,300 m) above sea level and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet (980 m) above sea level.

Standing so high up on a ledge trying to capture this beauty was worth it in the end. But it was quite scary. Long way down!!

Page was a beautiful little town, definately worth the trip.

I feel uncertain on this composition. A simply layout, the horizontal line directly in centre and the trees divides this line in thirds. The colours are concentrated on a duo tone which becomes freshet up from the blossoms white. This picture was captured with first morning light. The sun was soared up behind the mountain. You could see the shady mountain slope here as blue background. Some disturbs there are details from the forest. Please have a look on the large view. You could see the details better of the small tree. Maybe you could see a hopping bunny ;-) Happy Eastern, to all my friends!
