~ Mitch Hedberg ~ Mitchell Lee "Mitch" Hedberg (February 24, 1968 – March 29, 2005) was an American stand-up comedian known for his surreal humor and unconventional comedic delivery. His comedy typically featured short, sometimes one-line joke mixed with absurd elements and non sequiturs.

Hedberg's comedy and onstage persona gained him a cult following, with audience members sometimes shouting out the punchlines to his jokes before he could finish them.

Wood Stork about to perform a tap dance at Gatorland with Egrets looking on and gators swimming around to keep it interesting ~

Wood Stork ~

The Wood Stork (Mycteria americana) is a large American wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. It was formerly called the "Wood Ibis", though it is not really an ibis. As of August 28, 2013 it is classified as an endangered species by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, although there have been proposals to downlist it to threatened.

Of all the images I have shot this is the one, "If I were a Raindrop" is the image that has been the most widely seen. Until the image "Eiffel Tower in Snow" Raindrop was my most iconic. I shot this image during the time I was shooting the San Francisco Presidio. It had rained for two week straight. It was April 8th, my birthday. Needless to say I had cabin fever. My friend Warren White, who was in charge of location scouting for the Presidio, came over when we had a brief pause in the rain.

I did not find this shot, this shot found me. I tripped over a tree root and as I was falling I saw this image and shot it. When we both looked at the image on the back of my camera I believe my exact words were " Sh*t, If I was a F**king raindrop I'd wanna be this f**king raindrop" (I am a photographer after all and we have been known to have colorful language in the field) So in my studio this image started being referred to as "raindrop" also "Sh*t, If I was a F**king raindrop I'd wanna be this f**king raindrop" is not a title that would help sell the image. When my first book "Welcome to Oz" came out I received a critical review about "my sudo intellectual titles new age title" of my images. There is nothing pseudo intellectual or new age about the images that have titles. In every instance they are the punchline to inside jokes to me. They are part of the actual story. Have I stopped naming my images because of one person finding them offensive? Nope. I make all of my images for me. Don't get me wrong I truly do appreciate that many people like my images, but the only person that matters when it comes to creating an expression of one's voice is the person who's voice is being expressed. It is also the only person who has to be pleased and the only person who's opinion matters.

I have also worked on this image for 13 years. I have sold it many times and licensed it for years many times as well but it is one of the images that as my technique improves through practice I come back to from time to time. In the poet Rilke's book Letters to a Young Poet" he said "Poems are never completed, they are abandoned and we just revisit them from time to time." To me a photograph is a visual poem. Frequently we are done with them but as frequently we find we have to abandon them only come back from time to time and revisit them to add clarity to what we are trying to say.

The big question is "when to you stop futzing with an image?" That answer is simple when what ever you just did makes the image worse than before you did it, take one step back and call it a day.

This image was captured with a Nikon D-1X camera with a 70-210mm D SERIES lens using the Nikon electronic file format (.Nef) Shot on Lexar Flash media. This file was originally post processed using NIKON capture Photoshop 5 and Nik Colorefex 2. I have since gone back and worked on this image all the way up to CS6 ond Color Efex Pro 4.

Final file is stored and scaled using Genuine Fractals.

Bitches ain't got punchlines or flow

I have both and an empire also - We are the one you don't mess up with

The obvious punchline would be, "Very carefully!" However this very large Huntsman spider was tricky for me. He was at the insectarium and his legs spanned around 12-18 inches wide!! I couldn't get a close up in focus shot of his eyes and face without chopping off a few legs (in photoshop not in real life!) I am not sure if this worked or not as I lost the perspective on how huge he was even if I did get those eyeballs.

The insectarium gives me a wonderful place to practice my macro photography but it does have its own set of challenges! All insects are behind glass so I have to be really careful with glare. If I had wanted to (which in the case of this spider I did NOT want to) I can't move the insect or myself to a better position. It is also low indoor lighting as is seen in public aquariums. However the interesting subjects can't be beat!

The giant huntsman spider is the largest member of the Sparassidae family, boasting a 30 centimeter (12 inch) leg-span, and 4.6 centimeter (1.8 inches) body-length.

The green guy has been sitting around the workbench for a bit now, so I figured I should build him some friends.

I like to think we just missed the punchline of a joke about the red one, told by the yellow one. :)

What do you get when you cross a pagoda, a wedding, expired film, the Pacific Ocean and a trashcam? Why this, of course.

PS--this looks soo much better on a Mac. I viewed it on my PC at work, and ugh!

Sunday night I fulfilled a life-long dream.

In 1984 my parents bought a new comedy record. Bill Cosby “Himself”. I’m sure many of you have heard of it. Like many others I listened to it, and then memorized it. I was 10 years old and I recorded it onto a tape and played it each night as I went to sleep. Then after I memorized that, I saved up and bought other tapes he had out, mostly from his old Vegas shows in the 60s and 70s. Never used profanity, and his sit-down style was different from others typical setup/punchline delivery.

In 2002 I started doing improv and standup comedy. At the same time I went to watch HUNDREDS of comics perform in person. Seinfeld, Dangerfield, Carlin, Tim Allen, Dane Cook… I really saw and met a lot. Seeing Bill last night was a dream though. He’s almost 75 years old and let me tell you… he is POLISHED up on stage. He did a 2hr set with NO break. He was animated making his silly voices, going down on all fours do describe odd childhood scenarios, using a box of tissues to describe his wife choosing curtains for the new season… Impressed.

The guy is a multi-millionare. At 74 you’d think he’d want to spend his twilight with his wife on the porch drinking lemonade. See, that’s the difference when what you do all day is a job, verses a passion. A passion is something you never want to give up on.

George Carlin died a year after I saw him perform. Dangerfield died the following month. I sure hope I didn’t jinx Bill. I’d love to see him again.

Now to explain: I was sitting on this beach and saw this shot in my mind, I had to wait until the next morning to take it (angle of the sun & clean beach).

When you see the framed shot you are presented with an idilic location, but out of view there are red flags flying on the beach.

For those who don't know there are three coloured flags that are used: Green, calm sea and good for swimming; Yellow, slightly rough sea, swim with caution; Red flag, rip tides present do not swim in the sea.

The amount of people who do not adhere to the warning flags is unbelievable, I have actually seen three people being rescued by lifeguards from this location.

Now the punchline; in the last year 37 people lost their lives on this beach.

From wikipedia:

"Robert McKimson based the character on the real-life Tasmanian Devil. The most noticeable resemblance between the Australian marsupial and McKimson's creation is their ravenous appetites and crazed behavior. Although the Tasmanian Devil's appearance does not exactly resemble the real marsupial, it instead contains multilayered references to other "devils"; he has horn-shaped fur on his head (similar to the Devil's appearance) and whirls about like a dust devil (similar in appearance to a tornado) which sounds like several motors whirring in unison. Taz is constantly hungry and devours everything, animate or inanimate. His efforts to find more food are always a central plot device of his cartoons.

In fact, this appetite serves as the impetus for McKimson's Devil May Hare (first released on June 19, 1954). In the short, the Devil stalks Bugs Bunny, but due to his dim wits and inability to frame complete sentences, he serves as little more than a nuisance. Bugs eventually gets rid of him in the most logical way possible: matching him up with an equally insatiable female Devil. The character's speech, peppered with growls, screeches, and raspberries, is provided by Mel Blanc. Only occasionally would Taz actually speak, usually to utter some incongruous punchline, (eg. "What for you bury me in the cold, cold ground?") and yet is capable of writing and reading.

After the short entered theaters, producer Eddie Selzer, head of the Warner Bros. animation studio, ordered McKimson to shelve the character since it was "too obnoxious". After a time with no new Devil shorts, however, Jack Warner asked what had happened. He then saved Taz's career when he told Selzer that he had received "boxes and boxes" of letters from people who liked the character."

there must be purpose here cause most of us keep waking up.

don't you think it's pretty here?

it's so unexpectedly predictable.

so sloppily intentional.

does anyone know the punchline yet?

Also, I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who've been looking through my photostream lately, my photos had more comments and favorites, and that means a lot to me! So thank you(:

Why did the chicken cross the road?...心上突然湧上一種酸疼的感覺....

"Why did the chicken cross the road?" is a common riddle joke. The answer or punch line is: "To get to the other side." The riddle is an example of anti-humor, in that the curious setup of the joke leads the listener to expect a traditional punchline, but they are instead given a simple statement of fact. "Why did the chicken cross the road?" has become largely iconic as an exemplary generic joke to which most people know the answer, and has been repeated and changed numerous times

Can be an advertisement for NECC and the punchline would be

'Unda - Dimag ki Batti Jala De'

Just an idea I had for a bad guy for Punchline, pretty happy about him :D

Acrylic painting on paper for this week's Illustration Friday theme: Punchline.

That's it for Skyrim.

This account will be quiet for a bit until I finish Fallout 4 once and do a screenshot run after. I am hoping to continue this vertical framing thing, but let's see how I go with the game first.

Thanks for the comments and interaction guys. You are the best! Please try out the ENB if you have time :) It's fantastic. Vanilla Ice Cream ENB by Machok.

See you soon!

Freddie himself came up with that title, so don't blame the messenger.

Anyone can feel free to fill in the punchline.

#Surprise! Interpret whatever this theme means to you: it could be the astonishment in the face of your friend when it's her/his birthday surprise; it could be the reaction to an unexpected punchline to a joke; it could even be your expression of surprise when hearing good news! People can express surprise, shock and amazement in many ways and we want you to share your image of #surprise!

Think about a good surprise and submit your shot in the #FlickrFriday group. We'll showcase our favorites in Flickr Blog next Friday.

* the title is a take on a paint company's punchline ( Jenson & Nicholson )

' Whenever you see color, think of us'

Wake up, get up, check the schedule

Sometimes brings a smile and good feeling

Love or dreams or logic never have the answers

So let's just walk as if flipping a coin

A kind of happiness, a brief happiness

When it is felt, that's the start of happiness

Kind of moving, Born for moving

The first step makes everything move again

The news shouts out that the world is dangerous

Sometimes nothing can be done but shed tears

Unnexpected rain burns the heart into depression

I let one of your lies be leaked out

A kind of sigh, revival sigh

Merely the punchline in which existance rolls

It might be kind of useless, Maybe completely useless

A life with unseen effects is not progressing...

Surely, depending upon myself, wonderful things will be assured

I'll see them in the wind that will come tomorrow

A kind of happiness, a brief happiness

When it is felt, that's the start of happiness

Kind of moving, Born for moving

The first step makes everything move again
