I love the scents of fall! It's all about the feeling you get when you smell pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Pumpkin pumpkin
big and round,
I'm glad you grow
upon the ground.
I'm glad you don't
grow in a tree
for then you might
fall down on me...
I found this in poetry by children ...don't you just love how kids think =)
Migration from the patch to the porches, pots, ovens and tables has started. Chances are that this pumpkin will soon meet its fate.

This photo was taken at the Laity Pumpkin Patch in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada.
About this photo: Last weekend was the first weekend of the start of the pumpkin patches in and around the Vancouver area. We decided to take our 4 year old daughter to the pumpkin patch so she could pick some pumpkins to carve for Halloween. It was a lovely day with nice temperatures around 22 C (72 F) with some clouds and a bit of sun. loved how there were tons of pumpkins on the field with the mountains as a backdrop, such a pretty fall scene.

Some information about the Laity Pumpkin Patch: One of the best parts of October is Thanksgiving (in Canada) and Halloween. And this fall month for many people means finding the perfect pumpkin to use for cooking, to carve and decorate their front entrances for these celebrations. In Maple Ridge, Laity Pumpkin Farms celebrates the harvest season with hundreds of pumpkins found throughout the fields surrounding its barns. Visitors can hunt for the perfect pumpkin, pet the farm’s many animals enjoy the enchanted forest and have both a memorable and enjoyable fall day. Laity Pumpkin Patch in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia is one of the region's biggest pumpkin farms. Open only in October for pumpkins (and offers plants in spring), the farm is filled with interesting sights and sounds. The pumpkin patch involves several themes throughout it ranging from Disney to Fairy tales and popular interests. The forest has dozens of children's character cut outs throughout it as well as a small town, dinosaurs, spiders and fairytale stories.
Visitors first step through the corn fence and into the children's area filled with dozens of wooden animals where children can pretend to milk cows, gather eggs and ride miniature farm equipment. There are two barns to explore - the smaller of the two has a few of animals in stalls such as cows, a horse, a donkey, goats and rabbits. Out the other end, large white tepees dominate the field with a few other animals in pens beside. The forest and pumpkin patch is visible but further along, there is a small corn maze and gold panning.
The Pumpkin Patch located in the 'L' shaped field behind the forest offers the choice of thousands of pumpkins of varying size. Wheelbarrows are available usually in the parking lot and it is advisable to take one if you are planning to spend some time at the farm or pick many pumpkins. The prices vary by size. There are also smaller pumpkins and various gourds located at the exit to pick from.
The last barn offer drinks and snacks in the first room and the second, a variety of animals such as turkeys, rabbits, chickens, sheep, goats and birds. Laity Pumpkin Patch is a great place to visit in the fall to find the perfect pumpkin as well as enjoy the different activities found throughout the farm.

From Applecrest Farm Orchards. Went apple picking with the family on a beautiful, sunny October day. Pumpkins, apples and the smell of cinnamon were everywhere.
