Photo was taken on a rainy afternoon from the Bund in Shanghai.

Shanghai's Financial district of Lujizui comes to life at night as cars and neon-clad tour buses scream across the busy junction with the city's skyscrapers in the background.

Pudong's world famous skyline with a halo in the low hanging clouds - the tops of Jin Mao Tower and the SWFC are gone... Taken from the People's Hero Memorial at the north end of the Bund. See where this picture was taken.

And naturally not SOOTC - the PP involved a perspective correction as it was shot with an SWA lens upwards, and some playing with the curves. Best viewed on a black background.

For those interested in the rapid growth of Pudong: DvYang has a photo from 1993 in his stream - the Pearl Tower just under construction and no skyscrapers at all.

Pudong, officially known as Pudong New Area, is a district of Shanghai, China that enjoys sub-provincial administrative status. It is named "Pudong" because of its location on the east side of the Huangpu river, on the opposite of Puxi, the west side.

Since the beginning of its development in 1990 when plans were first announced, Pudong has become a New Open Economic Development Zone, and has emerged as China's financial and commercial hub. Pudong is home to the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and a skyline that includes the symbolic Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Building, and the Shanghai World Financial Center, reflective of Shanghai and China's rapid economic development.

Skyline of Pudong's Lujiazui Financial District. Shot from the Garden Bridge (Chinese name: 外白渡桥 waibaiduqiao). See where this picture was taken. [?]

The Garden Bridge is the last bridge crossing Suzhou Creek before it flows into the Huangpu River. A great photo location, but the bridge vibrates notably when trucks or buses drive over it - not desirable for long exposures, one has to be patient. (View Large On Black).

Here is a detail shot of the Pearl Tower, shot from the same location.

Compared to a previously uploaded shot here the "Tungsten" setting as white balance was chosen for the shot. Slight PP: due to the hazy conditions the contrast was slightly increased, using curves.
