This is an image for the other day up an Mount Rainer. I always love sunsets with white snow as orange seems to radiate everywhere. I decided to keep the shadows a cooler color as shadows are often a slight blue. This is my first outing with the new Canon 5D MK2 and so far it handled minus 20 on this evening !

This is an image from the Alaskan tundra from my fall trip up there. The tundra was heaps of red and the weather changes from thunder showers to brilliant sunsets were amazing. Trying to capture the exposure of the scene was very tricky and took three RAW exposures blended to get the color on the horizon just right and the detail in the sky and not blow the detail on the hillsides .
Thanks for looking !!

This is an image from the northern coast of Oregon. Any guesses to which one ?? This was an image taken with a Singh Ray Vari - ND 8 stop plus a Singh_Ray 5 Stop 5ND for a total of 13 stops and a very long exposure which gave me some extra punch in colors in camera. When I am looking for extra "pop" with saturation I always put on 10 or more stops to get very lenghty exposures. This was taken several minutes after sunset which also gives the water its cool tones. I was really going for a mix of cool tones and warm to complement each other

This is an image from the coast again - just having fun - this is with Blue N' Gold polarizer as one layer and a normal processed layer on another blended together. Density and mid tone contrast was added to the sky to create some more drama . I liked how the position of the rocks lead to the subject !! The sun was coming from the right which lighted the water in the middle of the image !

Happy Holidays Everyone and Happy 2009
This was from a short holiday I took last week during the holidays to Olympic National Park up on Hurricane Ridge. I had a blast in the colder temperatures and barely made it out my car or up the hill. I do not think I have seen that much snow in my whole life.
This was shot at f/22 to achieve the sunburst that I wanted without too much sun flare.
Thanks for any comments or critiques

I had some fun in some very cold weather waiting for this image to work. This is up in the white mountains to see the bristlecones. This was a two hour exposure and another two to wait for noise reduction before trying it again. I think this was the second effort.
The color you see on the horizion is from the sun setting and colors still being reflected up. I positioned the north star on the tip of the branch or as close as I could

This was another image from my latest trips to Mount Rainier during this winter storm of ours in the Pacific Northwest. The good thing is if you had the right car you could get above the clouds as in this image.

This was from the other night on the Oregon coast. It was almost completely dark but the horizon was illuminating orange everywhere. So I choose to shoot his nicely shaped creek that ran to the ocean. The problem was the river lead nowhere so I added some interest to the image by adding a moon for fun and some stars since I was already going abstract I figured I might as well go all the way !!!

This was an early morning scene from The Palouse that I spotted a few days earlier and continued to return to wait for the right light. I liked how the layers of rolling hills created some nice depth but I got some mist involved which increased the depth and mystery of that morning. The weather was going back and forth and everywhere in Washington State there were smaller versions of these lenticular clouds.

I am afraid this might be a big mistake but I am trying to take chances so here goes. This is an image from an sunrise on the mountains in British Columbia. The sun was trying to break through the clouds from the left side. The mountain was full of mist that was coming in and out. The sun created a strong highlight which I choose to not correct as I wanted to convey the impression of the light source. There is a mix of cool tones and a hint of pinks from the early morning light that was present. I realize this image will not work for most people but I am trying to create more of a painterly style to my images.

I have to thank Chip Phillips for this image as he inspired me with his amazing rendition of Palouse Falls. I have returned here several times over the last few years waiting for some clouds. I finally after waiting a few days got the clouds I needed.Finding a vantage point to see down the river was critical so I had to include that as well. To get the long exposure I have combined a Singh-Ray Vari-ND and a Mor-Slo ND filter to get the exposure long enough.

This was taken from an workshop with Marc Adamus and we went exploring for different things. This is one small ice cave that actually was only a few feet tall and I had to crawl in on my hands and knees in water to fit in here but it was fun. It took me almost half an hour laying in glacier water but the exposure was very difficult.

Description: All day it had been cloudy and was exploring when i decided to shot this area and for a few moments before sunset the sun's rays filled in the cauldron. This is an image where I took multiple exposures from the same spot with the tripod and layer masked in PS as the contrast and exposure was very tricky. This was taken on the Oregon Coast

Shot in Morocco when the conditions went flat and windless, rubbish for windsurfing but ideal for stand up paddling.
I don't usually have to do very much if anything at all to x-pro shots but this roll proved an exception. When it came back from the lab almost everything had washed out and gone completely blue. In an attempt to recover stuff I scanned the negs myself and took a guess at how the colours might have turned out. They were nothing like the results I normally get with Elite Chrome that's for sure.
This is an image from the Dalles Hilles that my photography buddy, Zack Schnepf showed me while scouting for good places to shoot. The early morning light was great but the wildflowers were not that great this year up. I added some drama to the sky to complement the foreground and match the intensity of the light

I realize this is not the type of image I usually do but I loved the soft cool tones in an abstract kind of way. I do not expect many people to look at but I had to post I really liked even though I know most wont. This was from a recent trip to Canada to shoot some of the fresh snow in the Provincial Parks but I was not so blessed with very good weather in terms of sunshine. This was an image on my way home as the fog began to lift just as I was going home - something I am sure photographers are used to !
I am trying to get to comment on my fellow photographers and I apologize for not getting around as much as i would like to due to so much recent work - sorry !!!!

Here in Washington we have had more snow than is possible to dream of. I have been out for the last week taking hundreds of these winter images. I get early every morning at sunrise to look for fields or forests where the sun can really highlight the snow. This image was really hard to expose for as was a combination of three RAW exposures again combined for their strengths in PS. I also added a Diffuse Glow layer in the background to give it a painterly look.
Taken again with my new Canon 5D MK 2

This was another image from my recent trip to Olympic National Park - this is an image from Hurricane Ridge at sunset. This was one of the tougher exposures to manage as the brightness up top was hard not to blow out on the mountain peaks. I should probably not post this as I more processing to go but I am putting out there to see if it is worth it .

After last weeks disaster I wanted to have a different take on this weeks theme as I knew so many would shoot awesome car images I decided to shoot rail cars instead. I cruised Salt Lake City's west side for interesting rail cars to shoot and I stumbled upon this scene and luckily the clouds broke enough to give me a decent sunset! I bracketed 12 images but ended up manually blending only 3 images using masks, adjustment brushes and Nik Coloreffex Pro. Shot with my 8mm Rokinon fisheye.

Shot during my last trip through tuscany with my motorcycle. Since i didn't had a tripod at hand it is not really as sharp as i would have liked it to be :) But i think the light is compensating for the lack of sharpness.
This is another image from Ruby Beach along the Olympic Peninsula.
This was from the coast last night. I do not think have been so upset to miss a sunset like we had over Mount Rainer as I went down to Oregon to chase the sunset that was suppose to be epic there while back at home I missed the best sunset Washington State has seen in years including multiple lenticular clouds

The lake is at the northern end of the park along the Trans-Canada Highway, Rt. 17. As an old Webshots member I downloaded a pro version of this shot, and after all these years, I still consider it one of my favorite photographs. While I was at the park, I spent sunrise on July 17, 2014 attempting to take my own version of the shot. I am really thankful that the fog showed up to make this a virtual copy of the original pro shot.
I was just having fun with this image by changing to soft focus to give it that dreamy look. I am sure it will not work for most people I will erase after a bit - just wondering if this was stupid ??>
Thanks for any comments !

I DON¨T LIKE STRAWBERRIES...
Took this shot a couple of months ago, and yes I don´t like strawberries!
I guess everybody love strawberries except me...
When I bought 1 kilo of strawberries, my wife was surprised because she thought that I´m gonna eat it... but no, I only took a pair of good looking ones for this shot and the rest was for them.
Thanks for the view, faves and comments!
