Preikestolen or Prekestolen, also known by the English translations of Preacher's Pulpit or Pulpit Rock, is a famous tourist attraction in Forsand, Ryfylke, Norway. It consists of a steep cliff which rises 604 metres (1982 feet) above Lysefjorden, opposite the Kjerag plateau, with an almost flat top of approximately 25 by 25 metres (82 by 82 feet)

I'm currently in the final phase of studying which is why there probably won't be any new photos until late December.
What an amazing sight! From the edge of the plateau there's an drop of more than 600 meters, or about 2000 feet, straight down into the sea. You'd better not fall off the edge, or else...
Last 16th of August I could accoplish one of my desires, visiting Preikestolen with my camera. Once there these 4 people reminded me to the 4 parcheesi pieces.

The Preikestolen is a rock in the songesand fjord in norway. It is about 600m above the ocean. It it an incredible POI made by the nature.
Rain, fog, mud and millions of people. 600 meter down to the water but only 50 meters of sight ;)
Most of the time we couldn't even see the Lysefjord. I shot this one during a shortbreak in the fog, but it also only lasted for a few seconds. Nevertheless, a impressiv location...
Preikestolen (nynorsk) o Prekestolen (bokmål) es el nombre de una formación rocosa en la costa suroeste de Noruega; este nombre significa "púlpito" en noruego. Situada en el fiordo de Lyse se ubica en Ryfylke, que a su vez se localiza en la región de Rogaland. La localidad más cercana es Jørpeland.
Para realizar la travesía se sigue un camino a través de senderos de montaña y lagos glaciares. Partiendo de la zona situada en la base (donde aparcan los autobuses turísticos) el recorrido es de unas 4hr, si el paseante está en buena forma física; esto incluye más o menos dos horas de subida, media hora de estancia en lo alto y hora y media de bajada. Sin embargo, los tiempos de recorrido pueden variar dependiendo de la condición física y experiencia del visitante, así como de las condiciones climáticas.
En todo caso, hay tramos muy escarpados, y no debe pensarse en este trayecto como un paseo más o menos duro: no lo es, está en un nivel superior de dificultad. Sin embargo, familias con niños pequeños o gente de avanzada edad consiguen a diario realizar el recorrido. Preikestolen recibe unos 80.000 visitantes cada año, la mayoría en los meses de verano.
En cuanto a la roca misma, se trata de un saliente que se asoma sobre el Lysefjord (el fiordo de la Luz), con una caída vertical de 604 m. La meseta superior mide unos 25 m x 25 m. La saliente es medida cada año y no presenta mayores variaciones con el paso de los años. Sin embargo, desde el punto de vista geológico, algún día el púlpito cederá y caerá al fiordo. La caída del fiordo ocurrirá, según la leyenda, cuando cinco hermanos se casen con cinco hermanas.
Nach einen mörderischen 2 stündigen Aufstieg hat man eine gigantische Aussicht auf den Lysefjord. Es geht 600 Meter steil ab. Es gibt keinen Zaun oder irgendeinen anderen Schutz. Man kann einfach die Beine baumeln lassen.
