Just back from our trip to France. The Pont du Gard was part of a 30 mile aqueduct that brought water from the source of the Eure near Uzes to the city of Nimes. It was thought to have been constructed between 30 and 70 AD. The stone blocks (weighing up to 6 tons each) used for the structure were cut with such precision that no mortar was needed to hold them together. Amazing!!

Built for the 1855 World's Fair, Pont des Invalides is a stone and masonary arch bridge. Two of it's arches subsided and were repaired in 1880; it's pavement was expanded in 1956.
