For some reason, probably because they've been in the water in some frenzy for days on end, all the frogs are now looking slightly blue!!
I pass this pond every time I stroll around Roma Street Parkland and never tire of its beauty and serenity.
I really wasn't going to add another picture of Croaker because I just did one, but when I downloaded and saw what was attached to him..... Well, I just thought it was darn creepy actually! And if you look closely there is a fly on his back! Are these the ingredients for a good horror story perhaps? :-)
I have a relative visiting so will check in with you all tomorrow......
I love these little creatures.
Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo's,much appreciated. And thank you all for looking.

more easter props :) - my boys have fallen in love with the bunny and ducklings - so to my husband's chagrin, we now have three new pets.

Turtles sunning themselves at side of pond; often see them in this genial position opposite each other; possibly a courthip scene.
Whew - another scorcher yesterday. Heat doesn't take away appetites at the pond....other than my own.
Taken with my 100-400mm lens @ 400mm, 1.8 meters is the closest I can focus, I do have a macro lens but cannot get close to these speedy little guys. I have a 70-200mm I will try using next trip out . These are all taken hand held and I do like the soft focus here. Next time I will use a tripod and see how that goes.
Thank you for stopping by I do appreciate your comment and favs :)
My favourite part of this image is the way the water plays with the sky. HGGT!
I'm busy pretty much all Easter weekend - so I'll likely catch up next week :-)
Pond skater also known as water striders, water bugs, water skippers, or jesus bugs. Their have mouth parts have evolved for piercing and sucking, and they distinguish themselves by having the unique ability to walk on water.
Its legs are so buoyant they can support fifteen times their weight without sinking. Even in a rainstorm, or in waves, the strider stays afloat. An amazing little insect.
This is just a suggestion but I think this is a mayfly species and it is surrounded by what I take to be globular springtails - all assistance with the IDs welcome.
This was from this morning BEFORE I got my new lens - LOL. I don't think I could have used it for this guy though - he was too far away.

Found these male Mallard Ducks sitting on a log in a nearby pond and taking turns diving and bathing in the water, coloured by the setting sun.
Yay! Three different varieties at the pond now and two of them happy to pose endlessly.
