{Information compiled from various sources. Unfortunately, not much on wikipedia.}

The Darkened Phalaenopsis is found in shady forests of Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and the Philippines at elevations from sea level to 1000 meters (3,280 ft). It is an epiphyte (grows on other trees) with small to medium size flowers of about 3.75 cm across (1 1/2 inches).

It likes hot to warm temperatures and blooms from spring to summer on a lateral inflorescence about 45 cm long (18 inches), with 2 to 3 flowers each branch. The flowers are waxy and fragrant, and they open successively over a long period.

from Sabah. This plant was in the same batch with the P. kunstleri, also labeled as P. kunstleri. I was surprised about that. It is probably Phal. fuscata, but the tip at the end of the lip is unusual.

This fuscata has longer flower spike and also longer petals.

...once this specimen is dominant here...
