As I was taking pictures with my uncle the other day, we came upon these rich baby blue flowers. They were so pretty that I stopped to take a picture. If I had taken a picture of the entire flower bush then they would seem insignificant. But by zooming in close and focusing on just a select few flowers, they take on a whole new meaning.
This was done with 5th grade to teach perspective. They had to have 1 vanishing point and 9 or more boxes. They had to create a "connector" to connect the boxes together. I saw everything from stretch limousines, to hotdogs, to giraffe necks. Color pencil, used complementary colors for shadowed sides, used tints for highlighted sides. Took forever, but they learned a lot.

For the inquiring minds who wonder about the size of my bikes. Bikes 92 and 98 are pretty typical.
When you see things in black and white, the shadows dominate your mind and your fears grant them monstrous proportions. It's funny how little love and a sense of humor can change your perspective.

This artwork is a response of the topic of Perspective. This topic took a bit of contemplating to get a final idea, but the final outcome wasn't so bad. I think that there is alot oing on at once, which in all adds to the overall feel, but it does look a bit clustered.
I thought that by taking a variety of perspectives and placing them in one artwork, would create this feeling of depth where there is more in it than 'meets the eye'. I wanted to get that feeling by using photos as a base and acrylic to mold it's purpose.
I used the mix media approach by taking photos which have more angles to them to enhance perspective, and painted acrylic around them to be able to link them and manipulate them to further enhance that perspective.
All of the photos are mine.

Following the lines of St. Kilda Road, Princes Bridge and Swanston Street toward the muted haze of the city, as viewed from the exterior balcony at the Shrine of Remembrance (www.shrine.org.au/home) late this afternoon.
The nature of the whole site - "created to meet the needs of a grieving community after the extensive loss of lives in the First World War (1914 –18)" - makes it an ideal place for quiet thought and peaceful introspection.
It is one of the best places to get an elevated view of Melbourne and its surrounds; the perspectives viewed from this balcony remind me a little of those seen from the top of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
I don't know how I remember but the first lesson in my 7th grade art and drawing class was perspective
