Dogwood 52, Week 10 - Perspective.
I took the opportunity of taking photos of my wife running a half marathon here in SD to get the shot I was envisioning for the dogwood photo challenge subject, Perspective. A runner pushes himself to keep up with the lead back.
I've slowed down my trips to yard sales due to a lack of space. That said, when I fall in love with a book, I fall in love hard. That was the case with this one. Called Perspective, it came with everything. Great illustration. Mystery! Die-cuts... the whole package. Anyway, thought I'd share some of the beauty of this publication. We got this, some stinky magazines and a whole bunch of candy display logos for $6.

"Perspective Drawing" assignment. Various graphite on white 18x24 heavy duty paper.
My 3rd drawing for Art 101 class (SFCC ART 101, Not DigiPen Art 101).
The project was to choose a hallway on campus and draw it using linear perspective. I took it a step further and drew it tilted to give the viewer a sense of nausea when looking at it.
the gal across from me happened to be drawing the other direction... captured.. nay, TRAPPED in my drawing forever! MUAHAHAHA.... Too bad I don't remember her name :-x ...
Yes I was laying on the floor in our tiny bathroom with my two kids.
Paige is potty trianing so we spend a lot of time in here these days.
Laurel(above) was making sure she didn't get to much toilet paper!

This is from an assignment on Dyxum.com. Dyxum is a website dedicated the Minolta and Sony A-Mount cameras and lenses. One of the nice things about the site is that they have some truly knowledgeable and dedicated photographers there who are willing to take the time to craft assignments for other photographers to shoot to better their trade.
This assignment was entitled 'Perspective.'
It's a three part assignment and in the first part, you were supposed to take a telephoto shot, and then a wide angle shot, and crop the wide angle shot in Post to be the same framing and size as the original.
The second part is to take a wide angle lens, a telephoto lens, and a 'normal' lens. Shoot your subject with the Wide and the Tele lenses, and then put the normal lens on the camera. Move forward and back on foot until the size and framing of the original is duplicated in the 'normal' lens. I shot that part with a Tamron 28-75mm, so I used 28mm and 75mm as my wide and tele, and then 55mm as my 'normal' and moved front and back. I should have moved further back for the wide part.
Finally, Part C is walk around until you find something you want to shoot, and STOP and SHOOT IT. Then, look at the photo, and see how it can be improved by moving the camera up or down, and left to right. I moved five feel left, and reframed and shot You can see the difference a mere 5' makes.

"The Resurrection" by a German artist shows great Atmospheric perspective. You can clearly see what is shown in front of you, Christ coming out of the coffin, but what makes it more interesting is the hill and path behind him. The background makes the painting look deeper and more realistic. The reactions of the people are all so different. The person on the right looks concerned, but the person on the left looks like he is laughing really hard. The guy in tha back left looks sad as he looks into the coffin. Christ's body looks very weird because of the foreshortened aspect.
For the inquiring minds who wonder about the size of my bikes. Bikes 92 and 98 are pretty typical.
