BETTER IF VIEWED LARGE ON BLACK
Walker Percy, in his article The Loss of a Creature, expressed that the wonder and delight which Cardenas felt when he saw the Grand Canyon for the first time "arose from a progressive discovery of depths, patterns, colors, shadows..."
As I stood at the top of the rim of what could be nature's grandest masterpiece, watching these birds hover in circles, I could not help but imagine how wondrous it would be to have wings, to fly over this grandness and delight in this "progressive discovery" from above, even if only for a moment.
And this, my friends, caps my Grand Canyon series.
An opportunistic shot in the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne when the stacked chairs were about to be taken off the trolley for the table settings in the function room. The attendant was helpfully cooperative about waiting the half minute or so while I quickly grabbed the shot with the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM .

Thank you all!!
Dove, a bird of the pigeon family. There is no scientific difference between a dove and a pigeon, but the term dove usually refers to one of the smaller kinds of pigeon. The dove has a round, soft, sleek head. Its plump, deep-chested body is covered with a dense growth of soft, smooth feathers. Because these birds are deeply affectionate when mated, the dove has become a symbol of faithfulness. The dove bearing an olive branch is a symbol of peace. In Christian art the dove represents the Holy Spirit.

Fotomontage-Experiment aus zwei Aufnahmen.
Die Wolke habe ich von Balkonien fotografiert, die Krähe war in der Platzrunde des Siegerlandflughafens unterwegs.
Photomontage experiment from two shots.
I shot the clouds from my balkony and the crow was flying in the traffic patttern of the Siegerland Airport.
dailyshoot, was about where edges meet and this is a picture that I took that shows that. Always like the patttern winter trees show against the sky and how in the depths of winter pics can seem almost monochromatic. Taken in a place called the Woolhope dome in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside 5 miles from where I live. Always interesting to try and restrict photography to the limitations of a cameraphone.
Shall we go for a stroll? :o) Same jacket patttern as next photo...but very different look with the gingham fabric. I didn't have a fancy watch piece (like Roz's girls have!) so I just crocheted a simple one.....it has a heart on the end of it. She is waiting for her loved one to come home....the heart tells her how long until he arrives. :o)
jacket & pants: made by me using DCR patterns.
boots: made by me with my own pattern.
We recently spent a few hours in Niagara Falls. On our way back to the car, I saw this pattern in the floor. The maintanence fella just happened to come out of a hall just as I was shooting...he looked at me very strangley and said, "Excuse me Mamme...we have more beautiful things here to take pictures of"...my thoughts...beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I was very beholden to the pattterns in the floor...but of course the 'Falls' themselves are spectacular...I was just unable to do them justice that particular morning.
I knitted Purl to use along with my Knitting Bibile Study. I needed a knit partner. Made from a patttern published by the online magaizine Printa, I added eyelash yarn to red hear yarn and have this precious teddy bear friend.
Absolutely delicious Hello Yarn in Pollen colorway. Loving the patttern too--easy but with enough interest to keep from being boring. I am enjoying watching the colors go by.
During a spell when A3's were the motive power for an early Saturday afternoon passenger train from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Queen Street, unavailability led to E.E. Type 1 Bo-Bo D8123 heading the train on 17 July 1965. Unusually, the first coach is a Hawksworh GWR-patttern BK.
The reflection of these two reeds in a pond caught my attention.Formed a peculiar patttern and lines.

I've had the patttern for ages, but it was Elizabeth Hartman's patchwork version that made me want to try it out.
The besto of the Daily Photo Blog for the week of August 21st - 27th.
I will be taking a vacation next week and there will be no more new photos, although I will set photos to be publish automatically from my 2008 trip to England every day at 10:30.
... And about the photo ... I quite like pattterns and twisty things. The texture and narrow depth of field are an added bonus to this photo of a dead plant that wrapped around the rails on our font steps.
This photograph it is a macro shot at ISO 100 and an f-stop of 2.8.
My Mom & Grandma were fabric savers, so most of the fabric here has come from them. The only place I buy fabric myself is from thrift stores or garage sales. I'm far too frugal to spend my money on new fabric.

this is probably my last one for a while. i seriously need to do other patterns. :P this one is made from lion brand "glitterspun" in metallic gold. i'm all about the metallic gold of late. i added an eyelet pattern to the bottom to tweak the patttern/look a bit.
Taken at Studland, Dorset. I like the way the light and waves were making pattterns on the seabed. Decided it might make a nice abstract photo. Here is the result.
When I was sheepishly trying to shoot this wire rope in a truck, the kind driver lowered the step of the back door of his truck and let me go in the cargo space(^_^)v.

I'm very pleased with the way these came out! The lace isn't very stretchy, so they can only go so high, but it's also very textured, so there's a nice interplay of shadow...
This card is dedicated to my mentor and friend Lin (Quilterlin). I have all the Happy Wishes for her as she encourages and inspires me. I'm very thankful for her friendship. If it weren't for her encouragement last November, I will not dare to submit cards for the weekly challenge. Thank you, Lin!
