Portland, Or has one of the great Japanese gardens in the US. It was designed by Takuma Tono beginning in 1963, and opened in 1967. It's all quite beautiful, even in (too) early spring.
ok more like dirt road in the woods. forest path sounds more romantic.
At Armand Bayou Nature Center
In every shipyard I've been in (and there are many) there is a designated "safe path" that will get you from one end to the other without putting yourself into too much danger. On Friday afternoons, the path is quite clear, but mid-week, it's still a game of dodge 'em with the forklifts.

The path that decends lose hill is a perfect example of a well laid path,great to walk up or down,why then do so many people ignore the path and walk down the grass verges thus creating erosion .it's not easier to walk on the grass ...i put it down to ignorance.

The tarmac path to the bus stop has become so overgrown that a desire path has been made to it. This demonstrates the low priority councils give to pedestrians and bus passengers :(
