A herd of elephants enjoying the unique mud around the Nebrownii Watering Hole in the Etosha National Park, Namibia.

The area consists of white calcrete dust, which becomes white mud as the water overflows from the dam to the earth. Elephant and rhino which frequent this area enjoy rolling in this mud and there are many reports of ‘old’ white elephants recorded in the rest camp books of game sightings.

This series of rooms in the Badal Mahal (Cloud Palace) at the top of Kumbhalgarh fort has small murals of elephants. An odd pachyderm may be bathing in the water on the walls, but most elephants are represented fighting -- either amongst themselves are participating in war.

Unlike many forts in India, Kumbhalgarh is a shell fort and most rooms -- save this series -- are devoid of embellishment.

On a recent visit to de Elephant camp at Punnathurkotta, Guruvayur come across with many TROUBLED pachyderms!!!!! Most of them are not maintained n good condition n though from various activities, they MINT money with these poor animals, the animals are definitely maintained n a very unhealthy condition. An initial attempt is made to cover the life of the Koottam members during the second anniversary of the group.

Elephant at the Oregon Zoo. - Elephants are large mammals of the family Elephantidae and the order Proboscidea. Traditionally, two species are recognised, the African elephant and the Asian elephant

The classic shot we have all seen, but sadly Mount Rainier was MIA. I know there are many shots like this which we have all seen, but that doesn't mean I don't want to add them to my own portfolio. I'll be continuing to try for this shot till I get what I really wanted. I just hope somewhere along the way I also discover something interesting that maybe everyone hasn't already seen.

Cute little elephant at the zoo . . .

It's so curious the eye of an elephant, so small in relation to the size of the animal, and so expressive at the same time. During the trip It happened to me to watch several times "demonstration" attacks, which becomes real if the recipient do not withdraw quickly. On these occasions I noticed an aggressive expression in the eyes that you would not expect from a giant for the rest quiet and peaceful as this pachyderm. I added a picture of a demonstration attack below.

An Octophant is a mythical chimera of cephalopod and pachyderm derivation. Never seen by a living human soul; only alluded to in the most obscure and off-key songs of the narwhals.

You never know what you're going to find around the next bend in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

I've chosen my favorite images from the past twelve months. Though it was difficult finding any standout shots that ranked above the rest, I think this wide angle view of an eland flanked by elephants may be my favorite.

I went to Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana specifically to photograph this watering hole, which lived up to expectations. Shooting from an underground hide was an amazing experience, especially when you had elephants 5 meters away! This photo was taken on our first morning, when the very shy bull eland (the world's largest antelope) approached the watering hole cautiously. Just as it was about to drink, the elephants barged in. Soon, the eland was surrounded. I captured this moment of symmetry with a wide angle lens at 17mm, so even though the subjects look a bit distant, they were in fact quite close!
