I took this picture a week ago at Maridalen Lake, Oslo.

I am planning to travel to Edinburgh and Dunbar at the east coast, have anyone been there? or have any suggestions about good places for photography?

Some information about Maridalen Lake:

The area was originally known as Margrétardalr , after the medieval Margareta Church (after Margaret the Virgin ), whose ruins are preserved and located at the north end of Maridalen Lake. I might post some photos of the ruins later.

Maridalen Lake is also the drinking water for 90 % of Oslo's population . It is a popular hiking and recreation area. From the west side of the valley are North Marka available and from the east side of the valley is Lillomarka well available.

Hope you enjoy

It was probably one of the most beautiful winter-days I've ever seen yesterday. We walked to a lake - Østernvann - that was covered with ice, and the sun was just about to set behind the tree-line. The colors, the light, the pure white snow, the crisp cold air biting my nose; I literally walked around with my jaws dropped for about five minutes.

We lit a fire, made hot chocolate, and watch the sun set. This was the view from the log I was sitting on, in front of the fire. I never thought I would say this - 'cause I'm really a summer-type of person - but I'm loving winter right now. It really is magical.

Beavers have built up a dyke on the river Ellingsrudelva.

The last sunbeams make pink clouds. Location is in Oslomarka, near the capital of Norway.

Every sunbeam is a present from above at this time of year.

About

This was shot back in December when we had our last snowfall. Now it's very cold, but no snow... This brings back the memories of that new snow :)

Oslo is surrounded by huge area covered with forest, that you only can access by foot, ski, canoe or bike. They go by the name of Oslomarka and is divided in 9 different areas. This area is in the Vestmarka, 20 km west of Oslo.

Post Process

By tweaking the white balance in the RAW photos, I control the tone of the final image. Here I tweaked the temperature up a little from 4900K to 6400K giving the scene a fairly warm tone

HDR & Tone Mapping done in Photomatix.

One of Akerselvas waterfalls. Akerselva is a river which flows through Oslo. It starts at Maridalsvannet in Oslomarka, and follows the urban areas Nordre Aker, Sagene, Grünerløkka, Oslo centre and Grønland, whereby it finally ends at Paulsenkaien and Oset in Bjørvika. The river is considered to be a part of the Nordmarkvassdraget, and has the watercourse number 006.Z. The entire river is about 8.2 kilometres long, and has a difference in altitude of approximately 149 meters.

Akerselva, or Akerselven, is a river which flows through Oslo. A walk from along Akerselven from the rural Frysja down through the different parts of Oslo all the way down to the city centre is an amazing experience and a walk through the history of Oslo

Walked along the river, Akerselva, which flows through Oslo. It starts at Maridalsvannet in Oslomarka and ends to the sea in Bjørvika, where the Opera House is.

Saw these swans there...;)
