Going through the archives, this is a phaelenopsis orchid, bought at the grocery store, nothing fancy. We have managed to kill it off since this was taken.

Orchids from the Orchid Show - Asia in Bloom

Orchids have long been a symbol of love and beauty. Grown by enthusiasts for their sheer elegance and fascination, they're also favored as either a corsage worn on the dress, or as a wristband at many proms and special events. On many occasions, from weddings to conferences, sprays of orchids grace the tables as decoration.

Orchids from the Orchid Show - Asia in Bloom

This orchid gets a blossom every year. It is indoors and gets no special care other than water.

my friend's mum has a garden window full of beautiful orchids and this is the one I like the best!

Members of the Westmoreland Conservancy met at Phipps Conservancy in Pittsburgh. Silly me, I forgot to bring my tripod, for they allowed us to bring them in on this particular Sunday morning for a few hours. I was fortunate to also meet 3 other flickrites in person. This shot was in the new building, currently with the theme of Thailand.

I was also lucky enough to recognize and introduce myself to the Concertmaster for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, also at Phipps with his kids, as was I. Interesting, however, none of my friends knew who he was. I guess I was the only classical music Aficionado of the bunch :)
