Opium is a very beautiful Japanese build by artist Dantelicia Ethaniel. Thanks to Strawberry Singh for the headsup in her Friday finds. Yes it is raining there.

Wild poppies? I found these on a mound of dirt in a construction site. Are these wild?

Poppy innards, actually....but with enough of them comes opium, i hear! No worries...i only had 2 of them...long gone now.

Today i went on a very interesting exploration. It was to an abandoned summer camp, in the next county. It has a rather impressive and interesting past, but has not been used as a summer camp for a long time. There is word that in the early 2000’s Derek Jeter was going to sponsor a baseball camp there...but after all the books about Jeter arrived and apparently many other things for the camp, it was suddenly pulled back and never happened. There is a room scattered with books in the indoor gymnasium.

Going much further back, the camp was well renowned and became a haven for underprivileged NYC children as part of the Fresh Air Fund. Someone named Melvin Kaminsky attended camp there....he later went on to become known as Mel Brooks!

I will be posting a little series of the fun we (Nan, Deb and i )had today, even if the weather was not as stellar as predicted. i will include some more info on the camp...It is amazing the things there that have been left behind...

No oPiUM tho ;) i promise!

Poppies from Kew Gardens. bit.ly/1voL51u

The finale of my series, Opium, is a visual representation of the surreal serenity of the well used and enjoyed at the time, medieval medicine, milk of the poppy.

The model, Charlotte Gale, 13 years old is sitting on her fathers shoulders who is cloaked using red satin, to get her above the poppy crop. I stripped an umbrella of the material and weaved in the flowers to create the prop. The fire was created by strapping on a smoke bomb.

Normally, I am not that much of a flowers photographer. But no rules without exception. These deep red poppies against a blue sky made promises of a great summer.

And they were right, indeed...

you can't eat but smoke it in the pipe

Papaver somniferum, they where always very present in my garden. once they are there they're self seeding away.

I love their stunning red colour, strong stem swaying in windy condition like Rockstars

Somewhere near King u.. shame about 80% of the poppy leaves had fallen off.

"Sometimes

I feel like I want to live

Far from the metropolis

Just walk through that door

Sometimes

I feel like I want to fly

Reach out to the painted sky

A prisoner to the wind

A bird on the wing

Sometimes

I feel the ocean in my blood

See rain from the sky above

Her salt brined tears

And now

Those tears leave taste on my tongue

Like the warm rush you get from

Black opium

Black opium

Sometimes

I feel like I want to leave

Behind all these memories

And walk through that door

Outside

The black night calls my name

But all roads look the same

They lead nowhere

They lead nowhere"

"If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution - then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise."

Ca y est, t'es contente ?.. Tu te traine, t'a pas les idées claires, au fond ça te fait le même effet que la drogue. C'est ce que ça doit lui faire aussi.
