This is a shot I took at La Jolla in California. This is an HDR that I combined in photomatix then processed in photoshop cs5. I masked through to the other RAW images I had. If you like my work visit my website at www.jswolfphotography.com
One of my favourite writers - Joseph Conrad - and this is the title of one of my favourite books. He writes so beautifully about the ocean and about the darkness and light within us all.
An unusual sight on any coastline was this unique ocean waterfall formed from a wide, flat rock ledge as the high tide waves washed over it on the SE coast of Tasmania, Australia
It was a not so spectacular sunset, but I decided to go shoot anyway. This is what I ended up with, much more than I expected. Keep shooting you never know what you will get.
Best if viewed on black.......thank you for stopping by.

Took it with a basic point and shoot film camera. Was one of the most beautiful sunsets I ever saw and all while standing on a sandy beach in Jamaica, listening to the ocean waves!!
This is an amazing geological phenomenon on the Oregon coast. Long ago, the roof of a sea cave collapsed, creating a vertical tunnel. At high tide, water is channelled up through the hole with incredible force, spewing out the top like a geyser. This well is incredibly dangerous - if anyone ever fell in, they would be killed instantly. The suction power when the water recedes is extreme. For this capture, I wanted to show the water receding back into the well. I used a longer exposure, to smooth out the water motion, and evoke the power of the water being sucked back into the well. This is an incredible sight, and is so unique, I am very happy to have been able to photograph it. This was actually a very challenging capture - I had to constantly clean filters and lenses of salt spray, and almost fell a few times. Plus, just knowing that a few feet away was certain death made it a little scary. I now have a new website - natureasart.photoshelter.com
I hope you can drop by!

my thoughts and my tears are for all those affected.
now - a few days on we are all feeling the agony as we watch
the devastating pictures on our TVs.
Each individual story of loss is heartbreaking - we
pray that the brave people of Japan will have some peace
now to recover and heal ...
here we have a thread in Speaking Love group - where you
may wish to express your thoughts and dedications in words and
pictures

6 months later, my heart still goes out to all the people who were affected, and are still living in temporary accomodation, knowing they can never return to their homes and villages.
Nice Remote Beach with Dunes.
Thank you for visiting my Flickr site.
I very much appreciate all your comments and favs.
The waves were too high this autumn afternoon and I was unable to enter my favorite island. Instead I visited a bay better protected against the heavy wind and waves. When walking out to the tip of the island you really felt the weather and I constantly had to protect my gear against water splashes and waves.
I decided to post this abstract which reduces the key elements to a minimum: the clouds, the sea, the breaking waves and the island rock.
Full Moon over the ocean, near the Sutro Baths in San Francisco
Although I've been to this location previously, this was the first time I'd ever attempted to catch the moonset. I spent a few hours here just taking it in through different perspectives and locations - this upload will be the first of many.
