She was a nurse too, back then. Because she started working at a very young age. Those who heard about her age for the first time simply refused to believe, and it took some hours of convincing efforts to make them to .But those efforts always belonged to others around her. She rarely spoke, she only did so when she felt the need. And convincing others about her age..? Well, that could not be a reason for her to open her mouth; it was not then, and it is not now. Even if she travelled through time and changed eras, she would still consider that preposterous, she always thought.
What she could not know at the time, was that that absurd comparison she made was about to come true. She also could not find out that there was a connection between her sleep disturbances and the fate awaiting her. She had either the most beautiful dreams anyone can have, or nightmares which left her lifeless and breathless out of fear and despair. And in the end, made her indurate.
On top of it, she was a nurse. Like all that was not enough. Lovely little Wren...︎

The Nurse's Walk winds through a network of lanes and passageways at The Rocks. Named in honour of the nurses that worked in both of the Sydney Hospitals, located in the area from 1788 to 1816.
The guy on the right was my neighbor. He used to go into nursing homes and do a routine of the most awful jokes. He also arranged for musicians and artist to spend time in nursing homes visiting. Eventually, he started a non-profit group called TAFA and expanded onto college campuses with his concept of "Smile Stations". That project was in conjunction with the Psych departments of the schools. Students would visit the elderly in nursing homes and hospitals. When I met him, and he told me why he was dressed like that, I volunteered to document what he did.
Pretty remarkable for a guy who spent most of his life homeless and untreated for Schizophrenia. With success came a lot of attention and he stopped taking his medication. One day when I went to check on him, the landlord was in his apartment. He had disappeared in the night. That was almost three years ago and I still don't know what happened to him.
i just got word that I was accepted into the Nursing Program to which I applied. I have been waiting 6 months for an answer. I am so relieved...I shot this a month ago while I was waiting for a decision. AND now I know! I start in the fall!
My mind instantly associate this pose with a nursing mother. Nature nevers tops to amaze me. I hope you enjoy this shot as much as I do.

Back Story .........................................
Y'all know yesterday was cancelled due to
the monsoon storms.Thunder, lightning, rain,
wind and all around bad weather for 24 hours.
Horizontal rain with what sounded like non stop
in coming 155mm artillery rounds followed up by
a B-52 carpet bombing. In other words, real loud !
Windows, doors, roof and walls were shaking as if
we were the epicenter for a 9.9 earthquake ........ ;-0
This morning I waited till first light which
arrives at 6AM .
2 wheeled scooter was packed with supplies
for all the temple dogs, nuns and monks.
Rain poncho was put in place cuz a drizzle was
coming down when I left.
10 minutes into this adventure the rain picked up.
At 20 minutes the sky opened up into monsoon
conditions. Can't turn back now, it's game on.
The Dog Palace was skipped, Mamas not there
so no need to do the same same at the bingo
room. BTP is taken care of by Mr Leg Man anyway
and I didn't want to carry the 10 kilo bag of dog kibble
on my back through the jungle in this down pour.
Went straight to the nuns place. Came flying in, jumped
off the scooter, grabbed the kibble bag and raced up onto
the semi-dry porch. Poncho was shed just in time to feel a
bunch of wet dog tongues start in on my water soaked soul.
Once the rain let up, notice I didn't say stopped, I took off for
the spirit house with Rocky and Legs.
There we did the same same, but it was obvious both dogs
were looking for Mama.Without her presence the magic isn't
as exciting as when she's part of the show.Maybe next week.
The Hooligans received their quota of attention as the rain
started to come down harder. Only one thing to do now and
that is, "hit the road again."
With poncho in place I did exactly that. Already soaked but
I needed to get home, shower and get into dry clothes........
Upon my arrival Mama took her time to slowly sniff every
nook and crevice of my body. She knew where I'd been.

another uniform from my fairy godmother, the ever generous josie. guess what its made from!?
North Vancouver. The nurse log is one of the coolest things in the forest in my opinion. In this case it's a stump not a fallen tree..still cool to see a big tree growing out of the top of a stump 5 times the size of set tree

After twenty years of over-worked, under-paid, unappreciated service, nurse Kelly had become a little blasé in her attitude to work.

Besides "El día de Reyes", January 6th in México is the "Nurses' day" Congratulations to all of them here, there & everywhere. They do an exceptional job.
I preferred the bw shot, but it didn't show the characteristic colorful uniform of the surgical nurses, so I posted the color version. Hope you like it

I know the "up the nose" shot is a no-no in photography, but is that still true when trying to capture those sweet little nursing blisters? One of my favorite parts of a newborn!
