My favorite little cove at night.

Brisbane at night is a great city to be out and about capturing its many different viewpoints, like this one from Captain Burke Park under the Story Bridge.

Some more star shots. Nice clear night outside of Crested Butte headed out towards Teocali. No clouds in the sky make for poor day photos, but great night photos. The orange glow is from the hazard lights on my car back on the road. Thanks to my friend for hanging out in the cold while I tried to get one shot. Still can't figure out how to get everything focused like I want. But I am getting better results each time.

Shot with my Panasonic Lumix compact camera on a work trip to Melbourne. The waterfront at Docklands can turn on quite a show of light and colour just on twlight.

Looking east across Lough Ree at Portunny Harbour, as I waited for the moon to set in the western sky and attempt to capture the Milky Way. Light pollution in centre of photo is the Lough Ree power station at Lanesborough - which is just visible to the left.

French Journal Day 62 (Travel Diary Day 142)

(travel blog - strange-lands.com/daily/2012/12/03/sinpapore/)

It’s been an interesting day. It turns out that the house we are currently sitting for has a small house attached to it that we are welcome to live in during spring and early summer. We’d be required to help around the gardens and chop firewood, which I’m skilled at, in return for free rent. This may turn out to be a great help to us if we can’t find any other house sitting opportunities.

We’d considered renting an apartment in Bordeaux for a few months if all else fails.

In other news, I’m not sure Mandy Moo Moo, the cat, is on good terms with me anymore. I don’t know what I’ve done to upset her. I’m going to come up with a 5-step plan to win her over within the next 2 days.

Today’s Photo – Singapore

If you’d like to process this image with your own style, there’s still time to do it on the HDR One forum (www.hdrone.com/forums/challenges-group14/your-style-forum...).

I’ve uploaded the RAW files for our forum users to put their own twist on things. The deadline is tomorrow.

This is the 3rd night shot of Singapore that I’ve published. I just love the layout of the this area, and the modernity of the architecture leaves your images looking incredibly clean.

The Shot

For this picture I was staying at Playa Blanca at a 5 Star Hotel as a special treat for a couple of nights. This is the Hotel Volcan which is very photogenic as well as the adjoining Marina.

The picture was taken on a Tripod with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 20 mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing. Opened in Photoshop first and each image noise reduced with Noiseware Pro and saved as tiffs.

Photomatix

Outputted in Photomatix to detail enhancer. Click the Camera name top right for Exif details and the settings.

Photoshop

Topaz adjust used with my own settings to suit to bring back detail. Done with a duplicate layer and layer mask used to exclude the pool.

The -2EV image was brought in as a new layer and applied with a brush using a layer mask to the highlight areas.

General adjustments in levels and curves to enhance.

Vibrance layer increase 30 points.

Hue saturation layer blues saturation decreased to tone this down and green saturation increased to bring out

foliage.

Noiseware Pro

Duplicate layer with mask to apply extra sharpening and contrast with amount 52 and radius 52 using Unsharp mask (Clarity Effect)

Not satisfied with this attempt, I guess it doesn't matter anyway since I will be back one day. Hopefully, by then, I will be in better spirits.
