Elgol by night. I went to Elgol on the last night on Skye with the intention to shoot some more star trails. However, it clouded over. All week the moon had been up when it first went dark so the stars were not that visible, but on the last night we had a couple of hours moon free and I was amazed all over again by the amount of stars you can see. This was actually a shot to get my composition correct for trails but I knew it may make a picture in itself. The rock on the right is the famous overhanging cliff, lit quite yellow by the sole street lamp behind. Portree's light pollution can be seen in the distance and I'm not sure if the green is aurora or not...it wasn't visible with the naked eye and wasn't forecast but I've seen another image a night later saying it was aurora...guesses?

A decent night along the Thames with another Flickr member, although the cloud disappeared, still got some decent shots off

I didn't do as much night shooting as I thought I was intially going to. I went around with my Sigma 30mm one night. And this was the only night I ventured out with my tripod. Then again, I didn't go too photography crazy overall, this trip.

A few more from last night... still not all that impressed with how they turned out, but it's a start, and I have a bit better idea of what not to do next time!

I have to thank my dad for this one, after driving an hour to get to this location, I forgot my favorite star lens... luck dad has the same one and was nice enough to share :) We spent a long night here both shooting, though it was cut quite short by the increasing cloud cover!
