Minneapolis downtown at night - taken from the 35th floor party room of the Marquette Place Apartment building - south end of the city looking north. We have been having some unseasonably warm January weather in Minnesota but it's still nice and frigid 35 stories up :O

I love shooting amusement rides at night. That is when they come alive with lights and colors. Amusement parks and fairs are so vibrant after dark.
You might not guess it, but buses run right between the north/south lanes of busy motorway A40 in Essen, Germany. This photo is a replacement of the previous version with, in my eyes, more punch and appeal.

The Elevador da Gloria in Lisbon. A funicular that goes up a steep hill to the Bairro Alto.
I layered together various exposures of the same photo, and then converted most of the background layer to black and white.
The Grand Canal in Venice at night. The City looks much better at Night and there are not so many tourists around, so it`s good to shoot :-)

Super saturated HDR... for a change
Tram Ride is a great attraction and a historical symbol of Hong Kong. Nowadays, tram is still a budget transportation method and an ideal mean for tour of the busy downtown in Hong Kong. By avoiding the local rush hours, you can just take a tram, relax and sit upstairs to enjoy the 75-minute journey from Kennedy Town on the west to Shaukeiwan in the east, or vice versa, during which you will have a full and magnificent view of the people's life and the city's buildings.

This was one of the more stressful shoots I've been on in the last year. I had really wanted a shot of this place at night, with the candles, stars and, most importantly, no people!
Thankfully, due to some great planning and preparation, I finally got the shot I always wanted! I hope you like it!

I'm sorry, this is totally ridiculous, but I couldn't resist posting it. I tried to do some night photography at Picacho State Park, but it was so close to route 10 the headlights from the cars kind of light painted all the peaks. Then to top it off, a plane flew by as I was shooting this.
What's cool about this (if you're into this type of camera geek stuff) is that this picture is a 30 second exposure at ISO 3200 - pretty good quality (check out the larger version)! The sensor on the d700 is pretty amazing.
Elgol by night. I went to Elgol on the last night on Skye with the intention to shoot some more star trails. However, it clouded over. All week the moon had been up when it first went dark so the stars were not that visible, but on the last night we had a couple of hours moon free and I was amazed all over again by the amount of stars you can see. This was actually a shot to get my composition correct for trails but I knew it may make a picture in itself. The rock on the right is the famous overhanging cliff, lit quite yellow by the sole street lamp behind. Portree's light pollution can be seen in the distance and I'm not sure if the green is aurora or not...it wasn't visible with the naked eye and wasn't forecast but I've seen another image a night later saying it was aurora...guesses?
