Last one (I promise lol) from my recent trip to the Fairy Glen near Betws-y-coed in Wales .
I wanted to show the light that shines through the gorge in this shot , so i shot it with a B+W110 filter for around a hundred seconds letting the warm light slowly creep through the gorge :)

This one taken in the Central Tablelands on a poplar lined avenue of trees that is as autumnal as it is going to get! Was here last year but missed the best part of the autumn foliage, so glad to get it right this time around!
A Sunday spent taking as many photos as I could in a day with Edwin. Got up at 430 and picked up Edwin and we headed up the mountains in search of some nice scenes.
Headed to The Upper mountains for a sunrise, then over to Mt Wilson to see how the Autumn was progressing. With a few nice snaps taken in Mount Wilson and realizing the colours of Autumn were still a couple of weeks away, we headed for higher ground.
After a bit of exploration around areas we have yet to explore, we headed for a country drive around Lithgow and Bathurst where we came across some nice country, and Autumn scenes.
Headed back to the Upper mountains for a sunset, then home to bed... EXHAUSTED!
A great day had by all and many photos to go through, process and share with you all!
For my ways are strange ways and new ways and old ways,
And deep ways and steep ways and high ways and low;
I'm at home and at ease on a track that I know not,
And restless and lost on a road that I know.

the geek behind the curtain: all shots and layers in this assemblage were taken and developed by myself.
as we were taking our weekend walk, i heard a crow. one had perched across the street from us and was at the very top of a telephone pole. zoomed out as far as possible, and got a nice snap with his head to the side. just in case it was blurry i took a second, and two things happened: the crow i'd originally shot looked down, and a second crow flew up. since the looking-down version looked like a formless blob on the end of a stick, i pasted the sideview crow onto the second shot with the landing crow.
the sky behind these characters was utterly grey, nearly white. after desaturating and working with curves to get some of the details in the birds to show up, the sky was even closer to pure white. at that point i started experimenting with replacing the sky. four hours later i had this paper sack version and another paint-splatter version. i also had several others, one of which was very simple blue sky and spotty clouds -- but the problem with it was that it looked so normal and realistic that i was worried i'd "fool" casual viewers, and my photo art is never about fooling anyone. if i doctor something i prefer it to be obvious so there's no room for doubt, and a lot of room to encourage an opening up of the imagination.
I was inspired by a picture I saw in Ikea yesterday so I spent the morning on the floor on Katies parents garden looking at the underneath of flowers.
Got some nice snaps like the one above....... but then I walked mud all over katies mums carpet.... oops

I am working on manipulation on pictures from SL. Sometimes you just don't get that nice snap so it's time to make some improvements. The original picture is mostly ochres and browns, the figure is basic lighter skin human color but I changed her to blue, no she is not Na'avii. I just thought blue looked best with all the dark shadows. It took awhile to get that sky in the background, patience and a pen tablet.
This photo is taken inside the woods on the way to KodaiKanal, India... It was very foggy and almost invisible at the top.. took some nice snaps at this place....

This was a very stormy evening and I thought of having a nice snap of the sun as well. This came our well but probably not exactly what I was expecting. I would like to rectify few things in this image and is suddenly waiting to get another chance.
Hope you will enjoy the picture.
Any suggestions or criticisms are always welcome.
Scenic bridge across River Ness. Lovely walk across the river on the bridge and if you are in to taking photos you have some great opportunities to take some nice snaps whilst on the bridge. Very peaceful and tranquil. Inverness is a nice place.

She still hates posing but I caught her napping on the sofa in this gorgeous light. I tried to get the camera and set it all up before coming in and taking the shot, but she'd obviously heard me so had moved around and had her eyes open. Still I caught a nice snap of her before she jumped off and disappeared in disgust!
Quiet family day - tidying the garden this morning, out for lunch and dog walk this afternoon. Pity Sundays go by so quickly!
taken in mono lake, ca. awesome place and looks great at sunrise or sunset. we went there at 5am but had a flat tyre and hence just missed the sunrise.
but, still we got some nice snaps and this is probably one of them.
from Wikipedia:
Mono Lake is believed to have formed at least 760,000 years ago, dating back to the Long Valley eruption. Sediments located below the ash layer hint that Mono Lake could be a remnant of a larger and older lake that once covered a large part of Nevada and Utah, making it among the oldest lakes in North America.
Mono lake is a terminal lake in a watershed fed from melting runoff with no outlet. Dissolved salts in the runoff thus remain in the lake and raise the pH and the salt concentration.
Mono Lake is in a geologic active area at the north end of the Mono-Inyo Crater volcanic chain of the Long Valley Caldera. The geological activity is caused by faulting at the base of the Sierra Nevada, and is associated with the crustal stretching of the Basin and Range Province.
Volcanic activity continues in the Mono Lake vicinity: the most recent eruption occurred 250 years ago at Negit Island in Mono Lake. Panum Crater (on the south shore of the lake) is an excellent example of a combined rhyolite dome and cinder cone.
This was one of the first pictures that i took back in 2006 at Bribie Island when i had my Nikon d70 and kit lens (probably with a cokin filter). Just started photog and was under instruction from Mr Bernie.
Just revisiting old pictures to see what i still have! Also getting excited as i leave for Japan on Monday. Hopefully might pick up a few nice snaps over there!
Not the best sunset I've seen at this location but it is the first time my daughter (five) and I have been out together with our cameras. I suspect she was avoiding bedtime but she did take some nice snaps on her pink vtech all the same. 2-stop grad (h) and a polariser
Thank you all for your appreciation.

Few years back we rented a cottage for Christmas in the Peak District of England. Having celebrated Christmas Day, maybe a little over enthusiastically, Boxing Day dawned, slowly and late.
Having mooned around the cottage for a while I was encouraged to go out for a walk. “Blow the cobwebs away, dear. You never know you might get a few nice snaps”.
It was cold and the air was liquid. It wasn’t raining heavily; just a drizzle or what we call a mizzle. Drizzle and mist. In 5 seconds I was soaked. It was miserable and so was I.
I walked round this lake for a couple of hours; about 4 or 5 miles before returning to the cottage. By New Year’s Eve I had got warm and dry again and was again speaking to the wife
This was the only shot I took.
I’ve spent hours with this image, trying to capture what I felt.
This comes close.

For this picture, I like using what's around me and I was just surrounded by some wheat spikes that helped me to compose a better picture. Never be afraid of using what's around you to fill in you composition.

The snow pack was hard on the surface today due to freezing rain overnight. Kelly was not enjoying herself as it was very difficult to run through snow like that. No worries though, she stopped to enjoy the view with us and I got this nice snap as the sun poked through just a little before sunset.
Another photo from my little stroll (:
Finally, I've got a weeks holiday! On Wednesday I'm going down to Dorset so I should get some nice snaps there!

Well its been a long day - enjoyed the sightseeing around Chennai however tomorrow its a work day since I did not come to India to "take a bunch of pictures". My co-worker and our driver was very patient with my slight obsession with the camera and the image.
In this case i had fallen asleep in the car and woke to a nightmare involving myself in a cross-walk with hundreds of auto rickshaws bearing done on me and apparently I'd been snoring :). The auto rickshaw part of the dream stemmed from all the auto rickshaw horns as we drove more into the city.
In the midst of apologizing for the snoring i saw this and instantly was awake and had the driver pull over on the bridge to take this shot.
This is just a sunset and there are billions of those however it was totally unexpected hence beautiful to me.
I will be delayed in viewing all of your photos (my contacts) however will try to keep up as there is some pretty incredible images being generated by a lot of very good photographers.
Have a great start to your work week and look for more as the week goes by.
Was Up Bowerhope Law waiting on some jets today (Hunting!).
Weather was great, few decent slots allocated by MOD but no bloody jets turned up!!
It's just a gamble that they come along and although not this time I did get this nice snap across the loch!
I've had a few really nice snaps come out of this trip to Ladybower overflow with Tim. I really liked this shot when I took it, but I've been pondering over how best to edit it for a while. And this is what I came up with.
The low sun was very warm - and welcome as the only shower was cold.
Returning from an early walk, I caught this lovely initial scene but it inspired me to try to re-create a more traditional-looking "girl in the window" image that features strongly in romantic mythology - I think version 3 works best for that, but this and the next (startled) one still make nice snaps.
See a zoomed in version I originally posted as an add-on but now as a separate image .
So I tried to get my horse on the pic but she is such a stubborn horse (I wonder why). Took me a while to get a nice snap, she didn't want to stand still, so I didn't spend much time to edit it :-)
CC.. this outfit I bought while I was waiting for you.. now who makes whom spend money? :-P
