This is on the top of the mountains in midNorway, you can see that we are above the tree-line. Haukelifjell,Norway - the two houses really gives you the perspective of the mighty mountain, doesn't it.
Usually there are more snow during summertime on the mountain than its this year
At winter its several meters with snow and the huge trucks drive all day long to get rid of the snow and you have to queue up to come over the highest parts on MidNorway
Lovely situated on the mountain, this is Haukeliseter Fjellstue, you can stay here when you are out hiking or just enjoying the view

At the end of a 3-day trek in Rondane National Park (March 2009), I was hoping to reach Smiukampen Mountain (1799 m.) before nightfall.

The massive, fresh snowfall was almost impossible to stay on top with my skis. Halfway there I witnessed a spectacular sunset overlooking Storsmeden (2016 m./6614 ft.), Rondslottet (2178 m./7145 ft.) and Storronden (1238 m./7014 ft.) mountains.
After intensive shooting in the last light my body had calmed down to resting mode and I was too exhausted to carry on up to Smiukampen as planned. Only minutes after this was shot, the sun had fallen enough to leave all this snow in shadows and the magic moment was gone.
Not often do I abort a trip, even if it`s the last destination after days in the mountains, but I decided to head south and using a head-lamp I finally reached my car after two hours.

Wind and reflected light over sastrugi on Norefjell mountain range, Norway. March 2011.
Spring has changed a lot since these last photographs were made and very soon I will be able to hike
(instead of skiing) in this particular mountain range of Norefjell. Spring also got hold of my mind some weeks ago and I have now totally left winter behind.
I`ve also decided to take on some new challenges regarding locations this spring/summer. More about this later on.
Wish all of my Flickr friends a Happy Spring!

- Had a great 3-day trip to Flø on the western coast of Norway recently.
Watch my blog or website for new photographs coming soon!
In the meantime, I post the third photograph, which also has the tightest composition, from a December morning in 2009. After one year, I found that I like this one best.
- In August, Erika at The Nature Conservancy, asked if they could do a feature on my photography. This turned out to be the most personal interview I`ve done so far.
For the better or worse, you decide. Many thanks to Erika for asking me, and for asking me quite clever questions. If you`re interested, here is the interview by The Nature Conservancy.

Sastrugi in late morning light near Ranten (1419 m./4655 ft.) on Norefjell mountain range, Norway. March 2011.
Knowing that this location have had a lot of wind during the winter, I hoped to find interesting snowdrifts (sastrugi) during my 2-day ski trip on this mountain range. It turned out to be a 2-day long study of sastrugi only.
Massive shapes, knife-sharp edges and otherworldly beauty witnessed the invisible, yet powerful wind.
