This was the fenceline along my property where horses once lived years ago and this was the remaining wooden fence that we never took down. The sun was going down and made the beautiful silhouette and tangerine sky.

On a short, dark day, in between Christmas and the New Year. The setting Sun sends a flare from behind a group of young birches on the day of the Holy Innocent Children.

I am enjoying the unusually warm December in the NY area. The warmth is causing heavy mist and fog in the mornings. This area would normally be difficult to get to due to the heavy thorny bushes in the summer. This time of the year however, it is manageable and I got to it with only few scratches on my hand. Very little processing was needed with this photo as the natural colors and mood was perfect this morning.

Winter clouds and and a weak sun are reflected on a river near Portland, Oregon.

Oh, if you’re a bird, be an early bird

And catch the worm for your breakfast plate.

If you’re a bird, be an early early bird-

But if you’re a worm, sleep late.

In the stillness may you always rediscover yourself, loud and clear..

May brooks and trees and singing hills join in the chorus too, and every gentle wind that blows send happiness to you

Blow, blow, thou winter wind

Thou art not so unkind

As man's ingratitude;

Thy tooth is not so keen,

Because thou art not seen,

Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:

Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:

Then heigh-ho, the holly!

This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,

That does not bite so nigh

As benefits forgot:

Though thou the waters warp,

Thy sting is not so sharp

As a friend remembered not.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:

Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:

Then heigh-ho, the holly

Went out for a sunrise autumn shot this morning, but the sun did not make an appearance. So I pulled out this shot from our recent road trip. On this occasion, the sun did make an appearance as I strolled along the shoreline on the edge of the sand dune. A couple walking a dog passed me along the narrow beach ... and how fortunate to see one lone tree perched on the dune when I turned around to capture this shot!

Happy Sliders Sunday Everyone!!

This farm entrance is just off the track to Ingra Tor (from the B3212) on Dartmoor.

It was the beautiful tree with its perfect shape that attracted me. Of course, I would have preferred there to have been a nice old wooden gate to photograph, but it seems that they are gradually being replaced by the less photogenic iron gates. Even so, this rural scene looked worth a shot to me, especially with a rather nice sky.

Oh, and I think the distant tor (above the gate) is Pew Tor, but happy to be corrected.

The shadow of a bare willow is projected on the gable of an old building.

A very unspectacular sunset as we were driving home yesterday. This was on County S just south of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

Even though it's so cold, that you can't feel your toes and fingers.
