after a long time, i am posting a macro shot. i know it is not good enough, but it seems i kinda lost some patience, haha.

My little friend got very comfortable with my camera only a couple of inches away and continued on, munching on his lunch.

For some strange reason, though, he kept one eye on me at all times.....

Tired of moose yet? Sorry folks, here's one more... ;)

Well after the my last posting of a tick that was met with mixed reactions, I thought it worth posting this one as I suspect this could equally divide opinion.

I'm not really sure what species of caterpillar this is, so please let me know if you recognise it. It was fairly small and I found it floating in the pond after clearing out some weeds.

I don't usually take images of dead insect (I have done some studio focus stacks of bees in the past) but I thought this fella was worth a closer look as I haven't encountered any other caterpillars in the garden this year.

It seemed to be in fairly good shape anyway. The pond life hadn't taken too many bites by the time I fished it out. I did notice that it's right side seemed to be missing a mandible. It wasn't until I was flicking through the series of stacked images that I noticed it's jaws were moving...
