Trying out my new ND filters. It was so bright I had to slot all three gradients in... I didn't quite get the result I was looking for as rain moved in and eliminated my chance for detailed tree shots. I wanted to hit the tree with a short exposure and overlay on this long exposure image. I still like this image, I feel it captures the weather effects present at the location.
Every movement of gondolier is exquisitely beautiful...

One of my deliberate movement shots, with my tripod set down low, i did get a bit wet on this shot, but i am quite pleased with the final result, it looks quite a miss match of tones and colours, but the movement is the main attraction. The things we do to get something a bit different.
Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2014 will be a good one for you all!
This is one of the shots I managed to take on a beautiful sunny but cold 1st of January here in Orkney. I have been looking at this burn for a while, but it's beside the busy main road between the towns of Stromness & Kirkwall. With it being New Years Day and less traffic on the road today seemed the right day to go here and I was delighted that there was quite a lot of water flowing.
violin concerto
movement III
''The dance-like feel of the first movement is capitalized upon in the third movement, which after lingering on a single chord for a brief period, works up a Latin American rhythm along with untuned wooden percussion. With the introduction of the violin, the movement wheels off into a vibrant dance that repeatedly hurls itself toward a powerful cadence only to turn away from resolution at the last moment, with the violin twisting and turning amidst the drama. Out of the ebullience of the dance emerges the slow finale requested : the tempo drops and a variation of the now-familiar pulsing chord motif from the first movement enters to support the violin as it spins through a soft closing theme that recapitulates the tenor of the second.''

An older shot back from 2013. One of the older buildings in center city Philadelphia. I really like the old architecture and charm. I taught that making a contrast between the moving sky and the building will work good in this situation. Monochrome conversion make it more interesting and dramatic. What do you think?

Unspoiled sand as you follow the tide out, harsh setting sun reflecting off the yellow marker, slap you ND filter on to slow the shutter speed down and you have a deliberate subtle water movement around the base of the Buoy,

For some inexplicable reason, I like this photo. It has absolute stillness, but it also has implied movement, courtesy of mi amor...
Another reason I like it- it reminds me of an absolutely amazing weekend that we spent celebrating our anniversary.
Loved the way the light was hitting the grass as it swayed in the wind, tried to capture the sense of movement in the pictures.

Thank you !
I especially liked the effect on the orange LC-Display - you can actually see the pixels moving ;) The photo isn't perfect technically, but i somehow like it anyway...
for my Get Pushed partner Pat (www.flickr.com/photos/33929747@N07/): create a photo using camera movement, but this time take an indoor photo somewhere.
Another shot from last weekend. Similar to another one but I liked this one better.
More foreground, same 9 exposure HDR using up to 20 second exposures to give the effect of movement in the sky.
As in the other similar shot, I never intended to get the movement result, it just kind of happened that way. Now that I know how to do it I'm sure it won't be accidental next time.
Next weekend we plan on heading back into the depths of one of these abandoned elevators once again. It should be an interesting shoot as usual.

"What I most cherish is the observation of the movement of colors. Only in this have I found the laws of those simultaneous and complementary color contrasts that nourish the actual rhythm of my vision. In this I find the actual essence, an essence which is not born out of an a priori system or theory."

If you hadn't noticed, I've developed a love for anything with movement in it.

Of course, this was very much inspired by a photo by brookeshaden, who is a master of movement :)
