The La Sal Mountains just outside of Moab, UT are some of the most scenic I know!

Image Notes: This is a reprise of one of my first really popular images that I had originally shot on an ancient 4 mp Nikon Coolpix 4500. The key was hitting up this place at the right time of year to still have some greens and at least a bit of snow to work with. I used a polarizer and had a fantastic cloudy sky to cap the scape. No HDR on this one, plenty of DR in the -0.33 EV RAW.

A narrow landscape shot with my 70-200 F/4L from the top of Clingman's Dome. I liked how the mountains just seemed to roll on forever. This shot reminds me of one of the stock Windows photos...I happen to like mine better.

One of the many names for the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies: Mt. Robson. Easy to see how it got this nickname. Like Denali, Mt. Robson generates it's own weather, covering it most of the time. Even so I like the mood and the way parts of it poked thru the clouds.

A few more pics of this special mountain in comments.

Thanks for taking a peak peek.

Stepping from puddle to puddle to avoid the spring melt, Crowfoot Peak cleared at the summit just long enough to get this shot on a moody morning before the rain resumed.

Bow Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Here is another Croporama from last week's sunset shoot on the rocks at Blaauwberg beach. It's definitely not the most amazing image that I've ever taken... but I still like it enough to post it. :)

This was quite a radical crop... it's now less than half the size of the original image... but there's still plenty of detail here... at least 16 megapixels worth! Gotta love that D800!!

We passed a lot of beautiful mountain scenery as we drove along the south coast of Iceland, on our way to the Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon. As we passed this rather stunning mountain, we made an impromptu bus stop to capture the mountain and its stunning reflection.

The view from the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. The mountains have their own weather here. Two weather fronts collide in this amazing sky at 8,000 ft. Sorry to post and run but this park has a strong pull.

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”

Our primary destination in Utah this spring was Canyonlands. But a hot day and impassable jeep trails sent us to the La Sal Mountain Road east of Moab. Recent storms had brought new snow to the peaks, and the aspens were coming into leaf at Warner Lake, elevation 9200 ft (2800 m). Happy Fence Friday!

Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support. Hope everyone has a great weekend. We leave Ely tomorrow morning for the final leg of our journey back to Lake Tahoe.

"Keep your clever lines

Hold your easy rhymes

Silence everything

Silence always wins

It’s a perfect alibi

There’s no need to analyze

It will be all right

Through the longest night

Just silence everything

But we could live by the foot of the mountain

We could clear us a yard in the back

Build a home by the foot of the mountain

We could stay there and never come back

Learn from my mistake

Leave what others take

Speak when spoken to

And do what others do

Silence always wins

So silence everything

It will be all right

In the morning light

Just silence everything

But we could live by the foot of the mountain

We could clear us a yard in the back

Build a home by the foot of the mountain

We could stay there and never come back

We could stay there and never come back

We could live together......................................."

The Jungfraujoch

Switzerland

is a col or saddle between the Mönch and the Jungfrau in the Bernese Alps on the boundary between the cantons of Bern and Valais, inside the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area.

Strictly, the Jungfraujoch is the lowest point on the mountain ridge between Mönch and Jungfrau, at 3,471 meters (11,388 ft).

It is just above this location that the mountain station of Jungfraubahn is located,

Jungfraujoch railway station, which at an elevation of 3,454 meters (11,332 ft)

is the highest railway station in Europe.

The Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area is the first World Natural Heritage site in the Alps, it was inscribed in 2001.

White Mountain Peak, elevation 14,252 ft (4,344 m) is the third-highest summit in California. This peak is actually an extinct volcano rising about 1,600 ft (490 m) above the plateau surface. The summit is composed of Mesozoic metavolcanic rock - lava lifted and melted by rising granite. A touch of HDR adds to the surreal quality of this starkly beautiful landscape.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.
