High above Jefferson Ave facing east towards the Ren Cen and Hart Plaza. This is a great place to shoot car trails in Detroit.

It's not hard to do, here's how:

1) Set your camera on a sturdy tripod. It's best to use a remote shutter release, but you can also use the "count down" feature if your camera has one.

2) Compose your image. Don't forget to have the cars moving into the frame, this will create more interest. If you can have an interesting background with buildings or something else, that will help too.

3) Set your aperture and shutter speed so that you get at least 20-30 seconds of shutter speed. You really need to get a decent volume of traffic - maybe 10 or more cars going each way to get the lights to show up well.

4) Make sure that you properly expose the image for the background. I normally shoot in Shutter Priority mode @ 30 seconds. The aperture will correct itself - or if you want more depth of field, shoot in Manual with F11-14 and 30 seconds using AutoISO.

5) Make sure the surface you are standing on doesn't move. Some bridges and overpasses might vibrate when cars go over it. Your shutter will be open for 30 seconds, a lot can happen in this time.

This image was made with a Canon 5dmk2 and 17-40L. You can find more images of light trails below:

They're motoring!

#8 on Explore. Y'all really like ducks.

In the early 20th century, many Wall Street executives and wealthy businessmen used the popular Consolidated to make the commute to and from Long Island and points north to the island of Manhattan.

The Consolidated yard of City Island, New York developed a reputation for developing some of the finest commuters on the market - known for their elegant, beautiful, and finely crafted vessels such as MOHICAN.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

at 66 studs long and 13 studs wide, this was quite the interesting build for me. The Mohican does have an interior, but it's not complete yet. The real Mohican, perfectly restored, is currently for sale in Italy, but sadly I don't have US$ 1,014,000 spare dollars, so I'll just have to settle for this model. Hope you all like it!

I was watching some stilts on a rainy morning at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, UT, when this guy motored by.

It's not the poker run, but it is a classy wooden speedboat that came in for the Hanko Regatta

Last year I have learned panning at a photo workshop. This is my best friend on her motorcycle. I took the shot for a motor magazine. Can't wait for their reaction. 😊

"The underside of the 'SpaceCraft' looks like this. You can see that the "MoToR" has worked already very hard, but it is using an ecologically sound technology."

What I like about this tessellation "MoToR" , it that it seems like it is really turning.
