Second busiest in London

Canary Wharf is a major business district located in Tower Hamlets, east London, England. It is one of the United Kingdom's two main financial centres – along with the traditional City of London – and contains many of Europe's tallest buildings, including the second-tallest in Great Britain, One Canada Square.

Canary Wharf contains around 14,000,000 square feet (1,300,000 m2) of office and retail space, of which around 7,900,000 square feet (730,000 m2) is owned by Canary Wharf Group. Around 105,000 people work in Canary Wharf and it is home to the world or European headquarters of numerous major banks, professional services firms and media organisations including Barclays, Citigroup, Clifford Chance, Credit Suisse, Infosys, Fitch Ratings, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, KPMG, MetLife, Moody's, Morgan Stanley, RBC, Skadden, State Street and Thomson Reuters.

Chapter 26

Harry, Ron and Hermione sat in the library as the sun set outside, tearing feverishly through page after page of spells, hidden from each other by the massive piles of books on the desk in front of each of them.

─────────────────────────────

I’m pretty sure there’s no need to tell anybody that is my most favourite scene/MOC – at least so far. As a sucker for every form of architecture (interior and exterior), I couldn’t resist and came up with my own version of a small part of Hogwarts’ library.

I even refrained from adding flying books to the scene, since, as far as I am concerned, the vignette is nice the way it is.

And as promised, I tried to come up with a chair that is a bit more handsome and complex that the one in Moody’s classroom.

If you haven’t had a look already, please visit the other builder’s pages and see what they created for this Harry Potter series. Each MOC is a little work of art.

I guess my mood is a bit dark as well. Moody's just downgraded Chicago's credit rating to "junk". Hmmm, I can see who this will hurt the most. The little people who are already struggling to get by. Property taxes (up 49% is what is needed) and probably many other taxes will rise to make up the difference. Familiar story around the world. We are not unique.

Doing a little experiment on color space aware browsers with an image containing a gamut of colors wide enough to totally break the old web standard of the 1990s, sRGB

I'm not much on jewelry, but if I were, this place would be on my short list for the sign alone; what a treasure it is!

My take on The Moody Blues here. I've listened to them all my life and still do. I saw them in concert twice within the last 10 years. You can never get enough of the Moody's.

Every Good Boy Deserves Favour is the seventh album by The Moody Blues, released in 1971. The album was the last to feature only the Mellotron, as it would be assisted by the Chamberlin (another device that uses recorded tape to generate sound) on the Moody Blues' next studio album, 1972's Seventh Sojourn.

This album featured the only track to be written by all five members of the band. The opening "Procession" was a piece that was intended to describe the history of music from the beginning of time up until the album's recording. The only three words heard in this track – "desolation," "creation," and "communication" – were similarly used (along with many other "-ation" words) in "One More Time to Live."

The album reached #1 on the British album charts, in addition to a three week stay at #2 in the United States, and produced one top-40 single, "The Story in Your Eyes." The track "Emily's Song" was written by John Lodge for his newborn daughter. Mike Pinder wrote and sang the album's concluding track "My Song", which showcased his abilities on the mellotron and piano.

The title is taken from the student mnemonic for the lines of the treble clef: E-G-B-D-F. These notes are heard played on piano during "Procession."

Built in December 1950, Registered in 1951 as MUR910, & supplied to the British Tabulating Machine Co. Not much is known of the subsequent history, until 2002, when it was purchased by the Bradworthy Transport Museum, Devon where it remained until 2010. It then moved on to yet another museum, this time the Moretonhampstead Motor museum, again in Devon. Here it remained in storage until purchase in 2017 by Moody's Haulage, whose livery it now carries. Restored over a 3 month period, by Heathline Commercials, a sister company of Moody's, and named after the Chairman's mother 'Peggy.'

Powered by a 3519cc Petrol engine, "Peggy; has a full-crash 4 speed gearbox. The original registration number is unavailable at this time.

A beautifully done restoration by any standards.

Hurricane Harvey wreaks historic devastation: By the numbers.

I have dear friends over there they are fine but without electricity as of today.

The remnants of Hurricane Harvey continued to dump rain on several southern states nearly a week after making landfall in Texas as the most powerful storm to hit the mainland in over a decade.

Harvey's torrential rain, devastating winds and widespread flooding have so far cost at least 39 lives, driven over one million people to evacuate their homes in Texas and caused extensive destruction that will likely make it one of the costliest storms in U.S. history.

Here is a look at the storm's historic devastation, by the numbers:

20 trillion gallons: That's the total amount of rain that fell on the Houston area after Harvey came ashore, a staggering deluge that represents enough water to supply New York City's needs for over five decades.

$125 billion: Texas Gov. Greg Abbot said his state will need federal relief money "far in excess" of that total. Moody’s Analytics has estimated $97 billion in destruction alone and some $108 billion in total damages counting lost output.

80 percent: Texans who don't have flood insurance.

51.88 inches: The amount of rain recorded at Cedar Bayou on the outskirts of Houston in just under five days, marking a new record for the heaviest rainfall for a storm in the continental U.S., according to the National Weather Service.

3: The number of times Harvey has made landfall since Friday -- once as a hurricane and twice more as a tropical storm.

185,149: Homes estimated to be damaged or destroyed by Harvey, according to Friday’s data from the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

364,000: People who have registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as of Friday, according to FEMA.

42,399 :People in shelters as of Friday, according to the Texas governor.

0,000: People rescued by federal forces as of Thursday, FEMA said, plus countless other Good Samaritan rescues.

200,000: Customers without power on Thursday, according to the Energy Department.

900: Calls that poured in per hour to call centers around Houston at the height of the disaster.

120,000: Residents without water in Beaumont, Texas, on Thursday.

24,000: The number of National Guard troops deployed to assist in relief efforts, including all of Texas' members as well as some from other states. The Texas governor said these troops will be needed for months to search homes and restore the state to order.

1.5 miles: The radius around the Arkema chemical plant in Crosby, Texas, that was evacuated after a container of chemicals ignited due to floodwater knocking out the plant's power.

30 to 40 feet: Estimated height of the flame at the Arkema plant after the chemicals combusted, sending a plume of black smoke into the air. Several more containers holding similar chemicals remain at the site, according to the Associated Press.

10: Gulf Coast region refineries that remain shut down by Harvey. Together they account for over 3 million barrels per day of output, or nearly 17 percent of the total U.S. refining capacity, according to the Energy Department.

Over 1,900,000: Meals distributed by FEMA in Texas as of Friday.

Over 1,960,000: Liters of water distributed by FEMA in Texas as of Friday.

Amy Winehouse - Moody's Mood for Love

I'll be away for the week end ... I wish you all a beautiful time :-)

Adams Place Bridge, Canary Wharf, London England

This is such a cool bridge, something that wouldn't be amiss in a Star Trek film, reminds me of the warp core inside the enterprise or the Nacelle (sorry I am a bit of a Star Trek Geek).

I little bit of image manipulation going on here, just wanted to try it for a bit of fun and it really worked out quite well. Just love all the shapes and lines going on here.

This bridge is certainly one that I will be revisiting in the near future and also can't wait until all the other Crossrail stations are open if they are as good as this!

"Port Moody is named for Colonel Richard Clement Moody, Royal Engineers. It was established at the end of a trail that connected New Westminster with Burrard Inlet to defend New Westminster from potential attack from the US. After 1859, the town grew rapidly following land grants to Moody’s Royal Engineers after the sapper detachment was disbanded in 1863. The construction of a transcontinental railroad was the condition that prompted British Columbia to enter into confederation in 1871. The small town received little attention until it was declared the terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1879."

Looks real good but for an early '50s custom it needs to sit level, I'd raise the front about 2 inches.

(and shiney paint would be a big plus)

OK, so when is it perilous to go shopping?

a) When you're tipsy.

b) When the guy you're shopping with is wearing a "Porn Lover" t-shirt, and convinces you this outfit is really hot.

c) When you buy said outfit before waiting for the picture of it to fully rez.

d) All of the above.

Man, the Moody's can't even save this. What the hell was I thinking? LOL!

Oh, and the correct answer (at least in this case)? D. ;o)

There I go, there I go, there I go

There I go..

Pretty baby, you are the soul who snaps my control

Such a funny thing but every time you’re near me

I never can behave

You give me a smile and then I’m wrapped up in your magic

There’s music all around me, crazy music

Music that keeps calling me so very close to you

Turns me your slave

Come and do with me any little thing you want to

Anything baby, just let me get next to you

Am I insane or do I really see heaven in your eyes?

Bright as stars that shine up above you in the clear blue skies

How I worry about you

Just can’t live my life without you

Baby come here, don’t have no fear

Oh, is there a wonder why

I’m really feeling in the mood for love?

So tell me why stop to think

About this weather, my dear?

This little dream might fade away

There I go talking out of my head again, oh baby

Won’t you come and put our two hearts together?

That would make me strong and brave

Oh when we are one, I’m not afraid, I’m not afraid

If there’s a cloud up above us

Go on and let it rain

I’m sure our love together will endure a hurricane

Oh my baby

Won’t you please let me love you

And give a relief from this awful misery?
