For one moment…
However brief in time…
You were there…
On the horizon…
One connection…
Between the sky and sea…
There you were…
A vision…
I set my sights on…
For no distance was too long…
To reach my destination…
Beacon of light…
And though it seemed so vast to me…
The sea…the sky all around…
You were there…
On the horizon…
One glimmer of hope…
For one moment…
However brief in time…
Within grasp…
Within reach…
And within one moment…
I glanced the other way…
To find that in an instant…
You were gone…

Happy Nifty Fifty Friday..and Feathery Friday Too?? I have to leave to take my husband to the hospital for surgery..will be back later on..kind of on and off today...but will catch up once again on everyone's stuff as I can..Thanks for all your wonderful support...and have a gr8 Friday!
Update: Jon's surgery went well as expected..Yay! I am home to walk the dogs (done) and just here for bit before I go back..he always takes so long in the recovery room..so will go back in a bit...to fetch him..I want to give big hugs {{{}}}} and thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!
as a side-note...I did get up early this a.m. and went to the nature preserve with my new 100-400mm zoom..Wow!!!! the preserve is about 1 mile from my house and the particular spot where I go to take pics is about a mile from there..so 2 miles..anyway, as I was driving the sun start to come behind a distant mountain or foothlll and was glowing fantastically orange....I almost had a car accident watching it and fretting because I knew when I got to the preserve, the sun would be above the hill and too late for me to take pics...which I was right .. darn it! 10 or 15 minutes sooner..maybe tomorrow a.m..while there, a gentlemen with a lens even bigger than mine..showed me his spectacular shots he got of an egret sitting on a post with the orange glowing light behind him..the pics were gorgeous! I am happy for him! Last two times I've been there, the pelicans would come .. like about 100 of them, to feed..flying and diving and splashing..but for some reason, today there was only a handful.. there were a couple of "special" or rare birds there today, which I got pics of ..but now I've forgotten their names! If I post one..someone will let me know..I got a few excellent superb clarity of a pelican in flight...that I can't believe I took..Oh and I handheld today as my tripod was just getting on my nerves big time..Wasn't too bad..arm hurts a bit, but it was worth it...OK! thats it...thanks for listening!
PLEASE NO LARGE GLITTERY GRAPHICS OR MULTIPLE INVITES!!!! YOUR COMMENTS ARE REWARD ENOUGH..AND ARE REALLY APPRECIATED!!!

week 51.
can you believe next week is 1 year of moments?!?! celebration!
There are moments, they do not last long, but you know in that moment you saw a glimpse of heaven. This was such a moment up atop the Grand Mesa of Colorado yesterday. The entire top of the Mesa looked like this.

On top of the world...that's what it feels like when I'm standing on top of Signal Mountain Summit looking across the valley and Jackson Lake at the breathtaking, awe inspiring Teton Range. If you've never visited, you should; it's a great location to begin or end your day.
Happy Hump Day....thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!

I was so close to deleting the original when I first went through the downloaded images. I remembered the "hyper real" quality the sky had at the time even though the land below was relatively uninteresting and dull in the shadows. So I decided to experiment with exaggerating that "feel"....and go from there. I for one, am glad I did.

A beautifully stormy day at Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Drama wasn't too difficult to find as it came in waves, as did the rain, throughout the day. Well worth getting wet to capture this place who's architect really knew what He was doing! :)
A topic that I've been thinking about is the definition of the term "fine art photography". I was recently jurored into a "Fine Art Photography Exhibit and Competition" that has me wondering "What is fine art photography". When does a photograph turn into fine art? Is it the processing? The compostion? The presentation? There was a huge range of photography in the exhibit. Everything from black & white "traditional" photography to images that were "Photoshopped out the wazoo". A veritable shock and awe of images. :)
I think emotion plays a large part in telling me if I'm looking at art. And, believe me, I know art is nothing if not subjective. :)
I think Whoopi Goldberg said it well when she said:
“Art and life are subjective. Not everybody's gonna dig what I dig, but I reserve the right to dig it.”
What are your feelings on the subject?
Please do take a moment and click on the image to see it large on a black background. It really looks nicer that way and thank you in advance for looking at my work and for any comments, critiques and favorites. :)

a cousin to who knows where this will lead?, taken a few seconds afterwards.
who knows where this will lead? was an HDR, this is a straight B&W conversion.
