Kirkjufell

During our trip in 2010, Marianne and I spent 2.5 days on Snaefellsnes Peninsula of which 2.0 days were in constant rain and greyness. I had gone jogging in the inclement weather and found a still pool of water just outside of Grundarfjordur near the waterfall from which to take this shot. We finally were in luck with the last moments of sunset on our last day there. Interestingly, Marianne and I often wander off separately when we're shooting landscapes and we took this shot almost to the exact composition at different times during the evening without knowing it!
Another point of interest is what people think about the practice of cloning out objects from landscapes? I can understand cloning out flies from a bride's face on a wedding shoot, unwanted telephone lines for an open inspection shoot , but in landscape shoot? For instance - the small barn at the base of kirkjufell, telephone lines in a village scene walking in the himalayas, roads winding through a mountain scene? In my opinion, they tell part of the story of the scene and I'm very loathe to remove anything from a landscape scene I've shot except for dustspots. What do you think:?
This shot is taken just a few moments before the sun fell behide the mountain. The sunset that happened this night was my favorite one on Rainier this year.
Hope everyone has a fun and exciting week. :)

I'm grateful for these precious moments. I'm grateful for being able to capture them and keep them with me and always remember.
the beach is cluttered with beached mini icebergs. Think a lone iceberg makes a better capture, but thought i would present the whole landscape to give context to the individual shots and the drama of the place

When the sun peeks over the horizon, the moment for setting up has past. You click and click and hope your composition and aperture are setup for a good sunburst, and it's really a special moment to be out shooting. Sometimes I like to step back from the camera and just enjoy the moment... Other times, click the shutter crazily!
Some tough times right now so a quick post and run and may not be posting much for a while. Just keep going back to this special moment in time, hope you all have a great week ahead

i spent a wonderful morning in the forest.
the light was fantastic.

wishing you all a happy weekend!
The moment one gives close attention to any thing, even a blade of grass it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.
One of those tangible moments just before the heavens opened up when the air stands still and the first couple of drops start to fall.
The breeze was causing too many ripples on the surface of the river but everything stood still for just a fleeting moment before the river turned into an ocean!
Self-timer shot, taken at sunset from the summit of Mount Rocciamelone (3.538 m), Italy.
Here you can see the sun caught in the exact moment before its final setting, behind the mountains of the Vanoise National Park, France... it just began to assume the contours of the distant ridges. At this point, generally, we only have one more exact minute before saying good bye to our star :-)
A huge bank of clouds and high mists, fluttering all around the summit, made the landscape very ethereal, visionary, somehow constantly evolving in terms of lights and shapes... nothing is more fascinating of what we can barely glimpse.
This side of the Rocciamelone is exposed to the west, certainly the most austere and impracticable face, with 3.000 meters of ridges rushing down, till to the plain.
Nevertheless this spot was pretty safe, as I still had a rocky prominence under me. Safety and knowledge of the ground are paramount in the mountains.

Karin and me were chasing the fog for hours and we were about to give up when we decided to check one last spot before going back home. I couldn´t believe my eyes when we finally got awarded with this jaw-dropping scenery. As I said before, things always turn out good in the end!

Another Awesome sunset from San Antonio, Texas on this day. The dark clouds in the forefront really look extraordinary, especially with the last moment of the Sun's energy shining through the dark clouds. Fine addition to my sunset collection. Hope Y'all like it.
