I love the textures, lines, fluidity and movement in this woven metal basket. Once I take a photo of one of our "commonplace" things around the house, I begin seeing its beauty and appreciate it at a new level. Almost like a friend. Hope this isn't the first sign of becoming a "hoarder!"

We were looking for Snowy Owls on Saturday and unfortunately didn't see any, however we did discover this amazing metal barn that looked very impressive with it's detail and texture!

Thank you for your visits, favs and comments.

working alone I had the nail into a piece of wood. Then set the camera to focus on the nail head, after that it was a matter of hammer in one hand and cable trigger in the other and move the hammer through the shot, shall I say several times before I got this result.

After the horrific attack at Big Hole on August 9-10, 1877 the Nez Perce went south, crossing back into Idaho over Bannock Pass before heading east towards Yellowstone National Park. In the meantime, General Howard troops, which had not taken part in the attack at Big Hole, had taken a circuitous route roughly parallel to the Nez Perce. In an effort to slow down Howard, a small group of Nez Perce warriors raided Howard's camp to steal horses and disrupt Howard's advance.

The raiders crept toward Howard's camp when they were discovered but not before scattering Howard's mule train. Some cavalry pursued but failed to capture the raiders. The Nez Perce disrupted Howard's advance, buying them time to escape his column into the mountains of Yellowstone.

Just another add-on to my 'looking up' series of the Petronas Towers! I have a couple more to come! I could not have composed those shots without my angle view finder, since the camera was on the tripod 30 cm from the floor.

Taken during a late night outing in KLCC with buddies Rajesh and Sai. After that, we only had 4 hours to sleep before going to a sunrise shooting!

Some tech info: The sky is originally greyish, the blue color was obtained by changing the temperature to tungsten. The light beams were made more visible by increasing the black level (all done in Adobe Camera Raw).

Metal garden ornament

December 2013

Early morning right after the sunrise. It was kind of difficult to take this picture. Before I took this photo I was observing this shiny metal every morning on my way to work. For about 6 months. The metal was shining even on overcast days. I was trying to figure out how to take this picture, because it is not easily accessible from the highway. First try in October failed. The grass was reaching above my head and it was too bushy to get through. I only scared up a couple of pheasants. And they scared me.

But on his December morning everything seemed perfect. Bush was gone. Ground was covered by frost. I parked my car by the gas station and made a couple of pictures.

The building is an assembly plant of engines producing company Briggs & Stratton.

The best steel doesn't always shine the brightest.

When I was deciding what to shoot this week I immediately knew I was going to shoot something rusty and old looking. I just find so much beauty in the chipped paint and crumbling metal in the world. The age makes it look all the more gorgeous to me.
