Le zèbre, cheval des ténèbres,

Lève le pied, ferme les yeux

Et fait résonner ses vertèbres

En hennissant d’un air joyeux.

Au clair soleil de Barbarie,

Il sort alors de l’écurie

Et va brouter dans la prairie

Les herbes de sorcellerie.

Mais la prison sur son pelage,

A laissé l’ombre du grillage.

I don't have any "nets" in the house and my kids hockey net, which is partially buried in the snow, wouldn't have looked as cool as this. I have the metal strainer sitting inside a metal bowl and used a cross processing edit for the colour effect.

Hi,

This is my Macro Monday submission for March 13, 2017 theme "made of metal".

As a rule, I don't enjoy photographing metal objects - they tend to be grey, scratchy, greasy, dinged up... well that's why they are made of metal after all - to take abuse. So I thought of skipping this weeks theme. Then I remember my carving chisels. They are polished HS steel and very sharp, so I experimented with different composition and distance and settled on this shot.

I used my usual 50mm vintage Olympus auto macro lens @ F11.0 with 47mm of extension tube added on. The lens was about 1 inch (2.4cm) from the subject. At this magnification the DOF is very shallow so I took 8 shots and focus stack them in Photoshop and I still could not get the whole picture in focus. May be I need a rail? Light was provided from a LED desk lamp. The wood is poplar which on the green side so I warmed it up a bit in Lightroom

Hope you like it.

For the Monday Macro theme Made of Metal I decided to use metal bolts, washers and nuts to create a city sky line. I have no idea why, it was just an image that came to me as soon as I read the theme description.

I used mostly M4, M6 and M8 bolts. M6 and M5 washers and M6 nuts (both lock nuts and normal nuts)!! All made of stainless steel. I don't know what any of that means, but I am assured by my glamorous assistant (i.e. my Husband) thats what they are and people will want to know!!

All photos and textures used are my own

We were looking for Snowy Owls on Saturday and unfortunately didn't see any, however we did discover this amazing metal barn that looked very impressive with it's detail and texture!

I love the textures, lines, fluidity and movement in this woven metal basket. Once I take a photo of one of our "commonplace" things around the house, I begin seeing its beauty and appreciate it at a new level. Almost like a friend. Hope this isn't the first sign of becoming a "hoarder!"
