This was taken at Hosmer Grove in Haleakala National Park. This is the only place on the island of Maui that they reside because it is above 4,000 feet. We were so fascinated just watching the I’iwi Honeycreepers that sometimes would forget to take a photo. It is so interesting that they are one of Hawaii’s remaining native species. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the islands.

Just found this posted way back in July last year, I forgot to make it public. A very smoky sunset seen from our rented condo on Maui. The smoke & ash from the volcano on the big island of Hawaii was blowing our way. SOOC.

REPOST MAY 4/16

Once in awhile someone faves an old photo and I feel I want to repost it. Hope you like it -:)))

A shot of a tree I found while visiting Maui, Hawaii. The green Canopy was almost like walking into a dream of green. It was beautiful.

North Shore Maui....hasselblad

Woke up and had to run for the camera to catch this glorious light--no time for a tripod. Colors faded only a minute or two later.

Huge waves around 30 ft at Peahi Maui.

Another sunset shot from my Maui trip.

Another shot from Maui, Hawaii that I took back in Sept. I love the beauty of the Ocean and how it can be so Violent at times. Water can be very powerful at times. Enjoy.

Sunset on Mokapu Beach in Wailea, Maui. The view is looking northwest toward Lahaina. The sun is about to set behind the Island of Lanai

I am back from Maui with lots of good photos to share. No HDR

1.6-second exposure @F16 with ND grads 0.9 + 0.75 (I used a longish exposure to show the unusual flowing movement.) This length of exposure often results in cottony and messy looking water, so you have to make sure that all the water is flowing smoothly in order to obtain good results.

This red sand beach is just outside of Hana and is rather difficult to get to at high tide, especially in the dark before sunrise. The old path was

washed away by a landslide and the waves at high tide make it difficult to run across the beaches between waves. But high tide is needed for the

waves to wash over the rocks you see here. I moved around until I positioned the sun in the corner to act as a spotlight on the rest of the scene.

The rocks really are that red and the red sand to the left is even redder. I will add that image later.

I've got about 70 images of Maui that I finally finished editing just a week ago (I visited the island last summer). In honor of that, here's a Maui Postapalooza.

Huge waves around 30 ft at Peahi Maui.

Sunset on Mokapu Beach in Wailea, Maui. The view is looking northwest toward Lahaina. The sun is dropping behind the Island of Lanai.

This was the last sunset I captured while we were in Maui. It is really hard to pick which one was my favorite but this one had quite a bit of drama to it with the thick clouds. It created some nice contrast that I really liked.
