the geek behind the curtain: it is what it is, pretty much. four shots: the bizarre door being the main one. then 3 layers of textures.
the textures for this were graciously provided by our own lildebweb. thanks very much! we have here a shot of light on shallow Caribbean water used once, then turned 90 degrees and used again, and also a shot of some gnarly rocks. all with the opacity lowered dramatically, and the textures blended into each other. also there's a completely black layer that was blended in with a layer mask via the radial gradient to give the dark vignette, which was then heightened with lots of burning, and more burning, and the burn tool was used in a very manly way, burnt up a lot of things, set it on fire, charred the edges, stomped on it with an army boot, then sent it out for some old lady to eat.
ok, that's a bizarre story but RubySnaps can tell you what it's all about, or you can check out her carhop picture where the story is told in a more straightforward way.

I am totally going to be late for work this morning but sometimes it is good to be the boss. Today's ODC is masculine. This weeks Theme of the Week is Black and White. I had the lights and umbrellas (cheap set) out and set up for some still life I was toying with last night and I had the boy's hat and sunglasses on the table from last week's Black and White challenge. After last night's successful toying, I thought, "Why not?" I suppose it would do for shades of gray in ODC too. Any mods know if it can be posted on two streams at the same time? Anyway, now I am very late!

My hubby's favorite fragrance posed with a new one that I am trying. It hit me that the masculine/feminine contrast of our juxtoposed cologne bottles would be a good fit for this week's challenge, so I had some fun with it.
A commissioned mosaic quilt for a man. My husband said it reminded him of camping even before he saw the Happy Camping print, so I guess that's a good sign. I took this before washing it and I think that maybe it works better to photograph quilts this way. It measures about 61" x 74".

The tree was made with a FLOWER stamp - the new HA Small Solid Flower cling. The trunk is from the HA Tree Trunks Design Block (the rest of the trees in the image were masked off). More details and a close up seen HERE.
