Before to get lost, find a map, and prepare a good route. It's better than just run without plans, trust me !
“To put a city in a book, to put the world on one sheet of paper -- maps are the most condensed humanized spaces of all...They make the landscape fit indoors, make us masters of sights we can't see and spaces we can't cover.”
― Robert Harbison, Eccentric Spaces

A fresh female Map Butterfly of the black form "prorsa". The Map is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is common throughout the lowlands of central and eastern Europe, and is expanding its range in western Europe.
This butterfly is special for its seasonal dimorphism: the spring brood is predominantly orange, but the summer brood is black (form prorsa). The length of day in the larval (caterpillar) stage determines the adult form.

A constantly updated map of my travels...
I've been thinking about how to automatically divide up cities into neighbourhoods that make sense to their inhabitants, without having to rely on the official naming/mapping schemes.
I wanted to translate descriptive phrases like "the area around Oxford Circus" into actual polygons, so I took a database of the locations of the Underground stations and made a Voronoi diagram from them. If you look closely you should see that each black polygon has a tube stop roughly in the middle of it.
We could use these polygons to partition a set of city data and bring human-readable tubestop names to the analysis of it.

The plane which I was on flew into Lima due to bad weather at it's original destination, Iquitos...
From there, a later plane was taken to Iquitos and the plan was to join a boat a little down river from there....( travelling down to it by canoe with small motor ). It is a recent realisation that I had travelled by plane or boat from the West Coast to the East, arriving a little south of the marked route into Belem and then up the coast to French Guiana and the Surinam border.......
