Light reflections from the Manhattan Bridge (1909) and the Williamsburg Bridge (1903) in the distance lit in blue. It was really only 10:30, though, not midnight, since we had to get back to the subway and then catch the last bus back home.

Midtown Manhattan, or simply Midtown, is a geographic area of Manhattan, New York City. It is home to some of the city's most iconic buildings, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the United Nations Headquarters. It contains world-famous commercial zones such as Rockefeller Center, Broadway, and Times Square.

Midtown Manhattan is the largest central business district in the United States and ranks among the most intensely used pieces of real estate in the world. The majority of New York City's skyscrapers, including its tallest hotels and apartment towers, lie within Midtown. The area hosts commuters and residents working in its offices, hotels, and retail establishments; many tourists, visiting residents, and students populate the district. Some areas, such as Times Square and Fifth Avenue, have large clusters of retail stores. Sixth Avenue in Midtown holds the headquarters of three of the four major U.S. television networks. It is a growing center of finance, second in importance within the United States only to Downtown Manhattan's Financial District. Times Square is the center of Broadway theatre.

Manhatten seen from the Staten Island Ferry minutes before arrival.

Some of the ferries doesn't allow anyone outside on the deck, so we felt very lucky getting this view approaching the city.

This was at August when outside temp reached 92 F. I named this album Manhattan 92F. Please check out my website www.erglisphotography.com and You are welcome to purchase high quality luxury wall art as well at fineartamerica.com/profiles/edgars-erglis.html

The iconic skyline of Manhattan, New York City is obscured by dense fog and clouds. The American flag could not be kept from swinging wildly during the long exposure due to extraordinary windy conditions

Completed in 1891, The Manhattan Building in Chicago was one of the first to use a skeletal frame system to support the weight of exterior walls. William LeBaron Jenney's structural engineering innovations of steel and iron made our tall skylines possible. Visitors to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition came to stare up in awe at this 16 floor 'skyscraper' and saw these faces staring back at them.

as I explore more and more of the city....at more and more unique hours of the day and night I take the red or orange or other subways to destinations such as this and it is a real treat. the city.........manhattan that is, seems to be small......in other words traveling 20 blocks isn't too big of a deal, but there are so many worlds along each of those blocks I hate missing them.

I appreciate the feedback.

It's been a while since I've uploaded a shot. This is one from my recent trip to Los Angeles. It was taken on Manhattan Beach. The beach itself is very Baywatch-esque. This is a high dynamic range image processed in Photomatix 3.0 and then CS3. I'm still getting used to the new version of Photomatix. I feel like it processes images quite differently than the older version.

On a very bright night in Brooklyn with the Manhattan bridge and colored reflections !!

Shot from World Trade Center 4, looking out windows on floor 68. My yellow construction vest is visible in the reflection. This view will be obstructed when a planned sky scrapper will be put in place, making this view only temporary. The building will be finished sometime in 2015. I took this in july 2014 on canon 6d

"(S)He fell in love with Manhattan's skyline,

like a first-time brothel guest falling for a seasoned professional.

(S)He mused over her reflections in the black East River at dusk,

dawn,

or darkest night,

and each haloed light-in a tower

or strung along the jeweled

and sprawling spider legs of the Brooklyn Bridge's spans-

hinted at some meaning,

which could be understood

only when made audible

by music and encoded in lyrics."
