Malcolm is the proprietor of "History Hill", a gold mining museum at Hillend, NSW. The museum has a comprehensive inventory from the mining period and also a mine shaft that can be accessed relatively easily. It is well worth a visit - see www.historyhill.com.au. Malcolm is also a very genial and informative host. Photo taken with his kind permission.

Flickr Roulette: Black and White Self Portraits

This is a portrait of my father-in-law Malcolm in his favourite environment the Derbyshire hills.

He has been rock climbing since he was about 14, and is still climbing strong at 71!

He is well known within the climbing community, and has shown many an apprentice climber the ropes (forgive the pun!)

A man of many talents, he also paints watercolours, plays the guitar, and helps write and illustrate climbing guide books for the BMC (British Mountaineering Council).

A great friend and inspirational father-in-law, father, and grandfather to my family, long may he roam:)
