LP/BB Challenge #1 - Moon without the Moon being Seen.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mUVuWCmMmI&feature=youtu.be - Sunlounger, "Shine on Me"

Question for you: When is the last time YOU sat in the moonlight with someone?

THAT long, huh? :-)

View On Black

You can tell these are young lovers; but they don't have to be young.

“Gray hairs seem to my fancy like the soft light of the moon, silvering over the evening of life.” – Jean Paul

“I think they are wrong with that old saying, "youth is wasted on...." Youth [life] is never wasted on the young, nor the middle-aged, nor for us approaching the long years. Life is never wasted as long as you have it , you want it and you live it.” ~ BossBob

“The glow of the Moon, on some evenings, my be unseen, but its seduction can always be felt.” ~ BossBob

Are each of you willing to understand, accept, and perhaps act upon, the wonders life is still offering us - at this graying point in our lives?

"Can we still sit on a beach together, under a moon and a star-lit sky, holding hands, touching feet under the sand, whispering softly into each other's ears, feeling as fresh as the day we were born?" - BossBob

Whether through death, divorce, separation, alienation, isolation, we (baby boomers) are moving into a new age. Don't waste it. It feels as good at 60 as it did at 20; better, `cause now we know so much more of what we are feeling - and we can SAVOR it!!!!!

"Sip, taste; sip, taste; sip, taste; roll it around; swallow; aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh."

This photo challenge was challenging: how to show the moon, to convey the moon, the power of the moon, the feeling of the moon, the light of the moon, without showing the moon?

I got this image on a sunny, but chilly day last April while photographing the feet of two women (Models) in sand, for an ad about using Chicago's beaches in the summer. At the end of the shoot, this couple was just sitting there; back to us and oblivious to the whole world. Even at that time, I didn't know if I would ever find something to do with this image. I just took it.

Not sure if I made the Challenge, but it feels like a good start.

Story Behind:

It had been a long day, I had been out all day photographing at the local marsh and I was hungry with a capital “H”. Dinner was in front of me and it looked delicious, I was just about to dig in when a swift movement in the garden caught my eye. Out of curiosity, I peeked a little in that direction to find that it was cute little Eleanor.

Eleanor is an Eastern Chipmunk who has lived in a burrow in our backyard for four years and our family considers her a family member now, like how most people have dogs or cats. She was busy feasting on the cob of corn that we had fastened for the birds. I paused for a second, I knew that dinner was going to have to wait....

Viens allumer mon soleil noir

The bird and the kid

Like a child with light in the eyes

Who sees birds flying away

Like the blue bird flying over the earth

See how the world, the world is beautiful.

Beautiful the boat with dance on vogues

Drunk of life, of love and of wind

Beautiful the song of emerging vogues

Deserted with white sand

White the innocent, the blood of the poet

Who invent the love while singing

So that the life dress up party

And that the night turns into day

Day of a life where the dawn is rising

To wake up the city with heavy eyes

Where mornings flakes the dreams

To give us a world of love

Love is you, love is me

The bird is you, the child is me.

I am just a girl of shade

Who sees shine the evening star

You my star who weaves my round

Come turn on my black sun

Black the misery, the humans and the war

Who believe that they hold the reins of time

Country of love do not have borders

For those who have a child heart

Like a childwith light in the eyes

Who sees birds flying away

Like the blue bird flying over the earth

See how the world, how the world is beautiful

Love is you, love is me

The bird is you, the child is me

The bird is you, the child is me.

J’y joindrai mille caresses

En ferai des bouquets

Dans un précieux coffret

Glisserai des mots doux

Des colliers de bisous

Et d’amoureux secrets

En faveur des enfants du monde

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ballade for the world's children

I'll make a heaven

With honey flavors

Strewn with stars of hope

I will paint a garden

Prohibits the war, prohibits sorrows

Where trees, grass and flowers then

Will dress in multiple colors

For the world's children

With joyful son

I embroider hours

Drive out the hassle

I will invite the pleasures

To join hands

And laughter

In dancing choruses

For the world's children

I pluck tenderness

I will add a thousand caresses

Will make bouquets

In a precious box

Will slip sweet words

Necklaces kisses

And secret love

For the world's children

“In the morning mist, two lovers kissed and the world stood still”

I had the title for this before I even took the shot; think I was humming the tune too.

Barcolana 2014- departure Sunday, October 12, 2014-for all lovers of the sea and sailing, for those who do not want to miss a show unique in the world, the event will take place in Trieste, every year on the second Sunday in October.

It is the Barcolana, the international sailing regatta with the largest number of boats entered in the Mediterranean, now in its edition of 46 and a magical mix of competition and competitive sailing festival. At the start, two thousand boats, brought by sailors that animate the world circuits of sailing, from racers to cruisers and passion, all haunted by an event which every man of the sea, at least once, should participate.

The departure is scheduled for Sunday, October 12 to 10, with a renewed path and closer to the ground, so as to allow the public to attend closely to the key stages of the race and to greet the arrival competitors who, for the 'occasion, he was moved right in front of Piazza Unità d'Italy.

In the week preceding the Barcolana, there are many sporting and cultural events: from the races for juveniles (Barcolana Young) to those for vintage boats (Barcolana Classic), than at night (Barcolana By Night) to the challenge between the best teams on the same boat (Barcolana Medot Challenge Trophy), not to mention the race of the Owners LNI reserved for members of the Italian Naval League. The culture of the sea will be equally nourished by events at the Village Barcolana set up along the waterfront of the city of Trieste.

To learn more and also to find a boarding at the last moment, check out the official page at www.barcolana.it.

Captured on May 5, 2004, our first trip to Iceland.

Was a sunny day on the other side of those mountains but we drove into an approaching storm. Which seems to happen a lot in Iceland. The wind was fierce, but onward we went and in about 10 or so mins it was sunny again.

Captured with an Olympus 2100 super zoom bridge camera.

The original image is very noisy due to the darkness and contrast of the light at the time. I kept it around because it reminded me of the visit and the forces of nature that one experiences there. I think It works pretty ok with this treatment.

Edited on the desk top in Photoshop and Viveza and converted to back and white with Alien Skin Exposure.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below. (John McCrae)

888,246 ceramic poppies will have been planted in the moat around the Tower of London to commemorate the lives lost of British & Commonwealth servicemen & women during WW1. Add to that the many other lives lost during these dark years, it really brings home the terrible sacrifice made during times of war. May one day the world be at peace.

Happy Thursday Yall - “Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.

The Lilac Festival attracts lilac lovers from around the world and artisans from across the country.

Highland Park is home to the world's largest collection of lilacs (including several varieties that were bred here), and the festival takes place, with any luck, right when they are in full bloom.

"To lovers of the wild, these mountains are not a hundred miles away. Their spiritual power and the goodness of the sky make them near, as a circle of friends. ... You cannot feel yourself out of doors; plain, sky, and mountains ray beauty which you feel. You bathe in these spirit-beams, turning round and round, as if warming at a camp-fire. Presently you lose consciousness of your own separate existence: you blend with the landscape, and become part and parcel of nature." ~ John Muir

Cowboys don't cry, and heroes don't die

Good always wins, again and again

And love is a sweet dream that always comes true

Oh, if life were like the movies, I'd never be blue

But here in the real world

It's not that easy at all

'Cause when hearts get broken

It's real tears that fall

And darlin' it's sad but true

But the one thing I've learned from you

Is how the boy don't always get the girl

Here in the real world

I gave you my love, but that wasn't enough

To hold your heart, when times got rough

And tonight on that silver screen

It'll end like it should

Two lovers will make it through

Like I hoped we would

But here in the real world

It's not that easy at all

'Cause when hearts get broken

It's real tears that fall

And darlin' it's sad but true

But the one thing I've learned from you

Is how the boy don't always get the girl

Here in the real world

Please, let's all work towards getting more in touch with the environment & create more of a relationship with these dire issues..

Many of you motivate me..

If you do not have these flickr's added yet, please add them, add & fav their images to spread the word to pay attention to & discuss these dire- issues..

Grace Lee Boggs says that just talking about these issues makes a difference.. So if you cannot donate or help directly, there is always spreading the word, recycling, being green, cutting down on water usage, & joining local green groups & activities.

It's one thing to talk about the environment & another try to spread the word & act- so please unite both of these great, modern qualities..

I am so excited to see how you recycle!

Be sure to let me know when you have your documentation posted!

~ Franklin D. Roosevelt ~ American 32nd US President (1933-45), 5th cousin of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th US president. 1882-1945.

A view of Dowdell's Knob in the Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, in Warm Springs.

Kathy Hall & John took my hubby & I on a wonderful trip through this area.

This scenery was seen as well as "The Little White" in the recent fourteen hours PBS series, "The Roosevelt's: An Intimate History".

DOWDELL'S KNOB ~

Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park

Pine Mountain, Georgia

Near the northern end of Georgia's 10,000

acre Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park is a

place where the presence of the American

President who guided the country through the

Great Depression and World War II can still

be felt.

Dowdell's Knob, named for a 19th century

farmer, was a favorite spot for picnicking and

quiet thought for President Franklin Delano

Roosevelt. First attracted to the region by the

nearby Warm Springs that he hoped might

provide a cure for the paralysis he suffered

as a result of a devastating bought with polio,

Roosevelt fell in love with the beautiful

country surrounding Pine Mountain. He built

his Little White House, the only home he

would ever known, nearby in 1932. That

same year he was elected to the Presidency

and went on to serve longer than any

President in American history.

Roosevelt was a great lover of the outdoors

and often drove his hand-controlled Ford car

up Pine Mountain to picnic, enjoy the scenery

and think in the quiet and solitude of the

heights. In this manner he discovered the

place that would become his favorite,

Dowdell's Knob.

Legend holds that Lewis J. Dowdell, who

lived in the area until his death in 1848, often

brought the slaves that worked his farm up to

the rocky projection for open air church

services. Others followed and the knob

became something of a local landmark,

known for its tremendous views.

Roosevelt came here often on his 41 visits to

Warm Springs. Local tradition holds that he

often talked with neighbors he encountered

at Dowdell's Knob, discussing with them

topics ranging from farming to education and

the national economy. Often, it is said, they

did not realize they had been talking with the

President of the United States.

President Roosevelt came to Dowdell's Knob

for the last time in April of 1945. Victory in

World War II was becoming apparent and he

asked his Secret Service agents to leave him

alone there until they heard him sound the

car horn. He sat in peace and absorbed the

view in solitude.

I am such an ardent animal lover that people make fun of me for it. I can't help it; ever since I was a little girl, animals have been a part of my world, and the bonds between us have been deep ones. There was no deeper bond than the one between me and my beloved Squeegee.

Squeeks was one of a bunch of strays living outside where I once worked at a fabric store here in town. i adopted him after his father, a cat I called Mr. Bill because of how long and loudly he would yell at me when I called him and he came running, was found to have feline AIDS and I couldn't adopt him because he would infect the kitty I already had at home, Noelle. Squeegee was second choice then, but it took almost no time for that to change. He became the best pet I ever had, and the interaction we had was a beautiful thing.

Squeegee would warn me when I had migraines coming on. Because of his incessant alerts, which would usually occur in the middle of the night, when the headaches were just starting, I avoided a great many painful days by being able to catch the migraine in time. Squeeks would also let me know if there was trouble in the house- especially with one of the other cats. He would act like an early warning system in the case of most any kind of trouble! When, after I had him for a year, Squeeks nearly died, I literally went into bankruptcy in order to save his life, and for the rest of his life, the good he did me was repaid in kind.

Squeegee died on October 19, 2015. God had been good to me for many years, saving my precious kitty who helped me so much through so much pain, but in the end, the kidneys that almost failed when he was 2, finally gave out when he was about 18. There will never be another Squeegee and I miss him terribly. Each new life leaves its mark on our hearts, and my newest additions are doing that, too. This one, though, will probably always be my favorite and most precious fur baby.

Don’t know much about your life.

Don’t know much about your world, but

Don’t want to be alone tonight,

On this planet they call earth.

~Lyrics by Celine Dion~

This mushroom is known world-wide as one of the best edibles. It is called the cep in France, the Steinpilz in Germany, porcini in Italy, and "king bolete" in English speaking countries. It has many close relatives and varieties, most of which are almost indistinguishable in their excellence. One of the most sought after of all mushrooms, delectable fresh or dry. This magnificent has several forms that may be distinct species. Plump as a "little pig" (porcini), no mushroom is more substantial or satisfying to find! These were picked during a recent trip in Southern Oregon.

Ecology: Mycorrhizal with conifers, especially spruce, and (in some locations) with hardwoods; growing alone, scattered, or gregariously; summer and fall;

Cap: Brown to yellow-brown, or dark red. Convex in the button stage, becoming broadly convex to nearly plane. Underside of cap with a sponge layer; pore surface white when young, yellowish brown with age.

Stalk: thick (at least 1") white to brown, never yellow.

Taste: It is described as nutty and slightly meaty, with a smooth, creamy texture. When dried porcini have a rich smokey flavor.

Spore Print: Olive brown to brownish.
