A radio molded into the word LOVE circa the 1970's. This may have been all that was left of the "flower power, groovy, hippy love movement" of the 60's. Only a few years before the Beatles were singing "All You Need Is Love" while surrounded by flowers, beads and pictures of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
As always, a social movement/philosophy eventually becomes a fashion statement or becomes embedded into a product.

For how long does this path goes before we turn on our own selves; blaming the blue ocean for its shade, even if it is but a reflection of the skies above?
.
I've read today that no matter how a soul tries to understand other soul that it’ll be but a deformed shadow on the floor. That we are but islands in the sea of life, having drifting in between us the sea that defines and separates us. So can we completely understand anyone else?
.
In this sphere of reflection I've pondered about the immense power of self love. How to love ourselves seems so much more difficult and different than loving anyone else. Yet, if unafraid we can look upon our true hearts; so why are we still finding it so hard to embrace a kind of love that is magnetic, so very true, indestructible, unfaltering?
.
There must be a way to feel less adrift. To feel that it does not matter if its autumn or spring in our souls. If we have fallen tears or sincere joyful smiles. That the circumstances do not alter who we are. That we are able to feel the winds of hurricanes without letting go of the ground of who we are. And if we do, that we will always know how to return. How to seed again. How to let go of hurt. How to forgive. How to rebirth.
.
To love our own hearts is a crusade. The hardest journey there is. The one that will make all others journeys taste like lemon drops on top of a mountain made of honey. The kind of love that truly is worth fighting for. Possibly the most important one. For if I do not move myself to the point of understanding and acceptance - all the rest will be strayed in the darkness of necessity and dependence, instead of in the rainbow that is passion and deliverance. If I do not have myself I truly have nothing at all, do I?
.
And underneath this thick layer of misunderstanding there's capacity; to root, to grow. To embrace this soul of mine into what it deserves; which is to love and be loved in a circle that never ever ends.

My husband's wedding band in The Five Love Languages book. This photo was maddening to take; this was a one-shot type of thing, as balancing that ring was a time-consuming and frustrating task! But alas, I got the photo I wanted. Happy Valentine's Day (tomorrow)!
Love is much nicer to be in than an automobile accident, a tight girdle, a higher tax bracket or a holding pattern over Philadelphia. ~Judith Viorst, Redbook, 1975

" Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. "

Love Design is a project that explores the multifaceted relationship between design and positive feelings such as affection, desire, pleasure and romance, but also jealousy, distance, separation or pain. Love Design the book presents a selection of unusual products, objects, graphics and textiles specifically designed to enhance (or distort) our pleasurable sense of togetherness in every possible and impossible way. Love Design the exhibition presents the works of 20 outstanding designers taken from the book. The selection includes new products, textiles, jewelry, lights, tableware and furniture that question the very meaning of the word 'love', the beginning and the ending of what binds us together and tears us apart.

Love is a simple thing, it could be anything and it would be most of something.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.
A little confusion today but I'm quite happy as to how it all worked out for me! I managed a round of golf with my son, who I beat - no, I didn't he won 2 in 1 - so I kind of missed some family and community opportunities before darkness fell.
So, I've fallen back on a couple of my old props (sorry, Garth) but I do live within our community and I do love my family - even though, I lost my round of golf; well done, James!!

TALK NOT OF WASTED AFFECTION, AFFECTION WAS NEVER WASTED .
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, American poet.
EXPLORED : 20 mai # 491
“Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.”
― Louis de Bernières, Captain Corelli's Mandolin
I don’t care if the house is packed
Or the strings of light are broken
I don’t care if the gifts are wrapped
Or there’s nothing here to open
Love is not a toy, and no paper will conceal it
Love is simply joy that I’m home
Lyrics from Love is Christmas by Sara Bareillis

"No wonder that I love him
More and more with every day
Happy Fathers Day!"
Today, 3 weeks minus a day after he arrived in my home, and a month plus a day after Carney's death - I fell in love with Kita, the new kitten. I've been very busy enjoying him, coping with what he gets into, laughing at his zany creative actions, and yielding up much of my time to this new kid in the house. But today, after coming home and being greeted so joyously and then these moments of deep tenderness on the couch I felt love arrive. It was completely noticeable , a physical feeling of melting in my chest and something like warm honey filling something up and making me relax. It was exactly as the poets sometimes say about 'love opening the door to my heart,' which I always think is just too sentimental!
I'm sure I have never lived with a being as joyous as Kita - and his stalwart persistance in his goals is really admirable (finally figured out how to get on the kitchen counter today - a 5 step process). His range of emotions, from the terrorizing wild cat-action-blur to achingly metling tenderness with soft paws and deep gazing into my eyes all all done with his complete focus and an assurance that this realm is entirely a good and happy one. I feel so pleased to share it with him.
Love heart...it looks like it's a love match made in heaven too :) I spotted these two mute swans making a couple of beautiful heart shapes together for a few minutes. This is the first time I've witnessed this between swans and unfortunately, the only lens I had with me was my macro 100mm, fungi hunting!
They were quite a distance from the edge of the lake at Trentham Gardens but what a special treat to see this.
I'm dedicating this to my wonderful and dear friend Glad who was like a 2nd mum to me. She loved the gardens and lake plus her cup of coffee and a natter...and is very much missed by all. For you Glad, thanks for all the laughter and wise words :) With love x
