This is a Photo Manipulation artwork that portrays an unhealthy love / relationship - one of a smothering controlling expression of love for another. This controlling grip (often because of lack of trust or jealousy or simply the need to control) is so tight it suffocates and chokes the life and beauty from the one being loved. The beauty – like a blooming rose – that was the initial attraction creating this relationship withers away as its nourishing source is choked off and it begins to die.
As such, simply because the love between the two was not healthy and trusting enough to let the flower be free to continue express its beauty, the controlling one loses the love he (or she) initially loved.
This artwork sends a message to those that suffocate and control another that he/she loves – release your grip … trust… allow the other freedom to be who she/he was when you first met. The rewards will be far greater as his/her beauty will be allowed to flourish and grow and you will reap the rewards. Or… you can continue to execute Love’s Crush and destroy what you loved.

We ran into a young couple at the Oriental Gardens. They were wondering if I would use their camera to take a picture of their hands together. I asked if we could use mine instead. So we had a small impromptu photo session on just their hands and their engagement ring. I very much enjoyed working with them, trying to get the photos they were looking for.
A nice couple, and I wish them both the best.
