Recently I got invited to an anthology focusing on stories about equal marriage rights. Luckily enough I had already been toying with the idea of a short form comic about marriage, focusing specifically on the recent second marriages of my parents. I guess walking your Mom down the aisle is not something you can pretend just isn’t a big a deal.
I’ve never worked on a comic that so openly explores my personal life before. I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous.

The light was in the wrong direction and I had about 1 min to capture the love making.

I love the way the light hit the roughness of these tattoos. He just a few days ago had them filled in so they were still scabbing.
I feel like I should state that my friend Josh took some wonderful shots of tattoos recently, so these are somewhat inspired by him. Go see his work, he knows what he's doing much more so than I. Also keep him and his father in your prayers as they live in Texas and are hanging out with hurricane Ike. Be safe!

These are Calico herd mares, in BLM captivity of course. They wear necklace tags, numbering their existence. I watched for some time, and was relieved to see the foal finally get up. The baby was fine and the mares seemed relieved and happy too.
A beautiful sight to happen upon, even under the circumstances. I am not sure of the number of foals born in this facility, but its well over two hundred and possibly nearing 300 by now. They are such a joy to watch.

This photo took FOREVER to set up and I was super afraid it was going to get dark before I could get all the letters positioned the right way but I got it set up in time and I'm really happy with the outcome. :)

I love you. It's that simple. Love doesn't need any extras. It's enough just to love someone with all that you have. It doesn't need fancy gifts, long songs, and confusing words. All that's really needed is those three words. You know why? Love is Love. Simple as that. It's the feeling that you get when you know you've found happiness in somebody else's happiness. The word, love, itself is a promise. I am yours. I am here for you. Be here for me. No exceptions, no lies. You are mine, and we are each other. Love transforms a person, and whether it be for good or for bad, it's worth every minute. You make me better, I make you better. We become our real selves through each other. And true love means letting go. You can't keep your walls up in fear of getting hurt. That only blocks out the magic. Because even if you get your heart torn out and stomped on, it's still beating. Sometimes I shoot weddings and I can tell if the couple is really in love or not. I think this couple will be together for a long time.
I've shot weddings on golf courses before and never really got anything too inspirational. This time the lady carted us around to some pretty cool spots. And using some textures to OVERLAY helped as well.
