30 C here today . now that is very rare .. and one more day to go ... . need to swim in the lake soon ..

i give up on Explore a long time ago .

This is the most famous bridge in Ljubljana, actually there are three bridges next to each other. They are right at the most central point of the city, Prešeren Square (Prešernov trg). On this square is also the most famous monument of Slovenia, the Preseren monument. France Prešeren (1800 to 1849) is the most famous writer in Slovenia. He mainly wrote love poems. He is so important in Slovenia that his death today is a public holiday.

" As the light so slowly fades,

Moonlight silver on the shore,

Shadows fall along the land,

I hear your voce no more,

Farewell my love for we must part,

Oh fare the well my own true love,

Weep no mor, my heat goes with you,

Fare the well "a stór " [ My love ]

“Do not fall in love with people like me. I will take you to museums, and parks, and monuments, and kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth. I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible. And when I leave you will finally understand, why storms are named after people.”

Self-Love Poem by Lang Leav

SELF LOVE

Once when I was running,

from all that haunted me;

to the dark I was succumbing-

to what hurt unbearably.

Searching for the one thing,

that would set my sad soul free.

In time I stumbled upon it,

an inner calm and peace;

and now I am beginning,

to see and to believe,

in who I am becoming-

and all I’ve yet to be

-Lang Leav

William Shakespeare

That time of year thou mayst in me behold

When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang

Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,

Bare ruin’d choirs where late the sweet birds sang.

In me thou seest the twilight of such day

As after sunset fadeth in the west,

Which by and by black night doth take away,

Death’s second self, that seals up all in rest.

In me thou seest the glowing of such fire

That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,

As the death-bed whereon it must expire,

Consum’d by that which it was nourished by.

This thou perceiv’st which makes thy love more strong,

To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

Life has loveliness to sell,

All beautiful and splendid things,

Blue waves whitened on a cliff,

Soaring fire that sways and sings,

And children's faces looking up

Holding wonder like a cup.

Life has loveliness to sell,

Music like a curve of gold,

Scent of pine trees in the rain,

Eyes that love you, arms that hold,

And for your spirit's still delight,

Holy thoughts that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,

Buy it and never count the cost;

For one white singing hour of peace

Count many a year of strife well lost,

And for a breath of ecstasy

Give all you have been, or could be. - Sara Teasdale

Love

Love

When it comes

Asks no questions

And needs no answers

Love is a storm awakened

Rising out of the night

Love is summer surf

And huge breakers

Rolling in from the sea

Sometimes love is a small bird

Testing branches

Or a hawk

Sailing the skies

Love comes in many forms

Many shapes

But when love comes

There is no disguising

And no hiding it

“...in solitude, or that deserted state when we are surrounded by human beings and yet they sympathize not with us, we love the flowers, the grass, the waters, and the sky. In the motion of the very leaves of spring, in the blue air, there is then found a secret correspondence with our heart.”

My cup of tea

You are

My cup of tea

My just desert

The icing on my cake

Cream in my coffee

Apple of my eye

My heart's delight

You are butter melting

As we lie close

Marmalade on muffin

A glass of strong wine

A taste of Heaven

A touch of spice

Oh so nice

You are

Red pepper

Cinnamon

Cardamon

Cloves

Orange pekoe

A silver spoon

and

Honey

Yes, honey dripping

Slowly

Sweetly

One drop at a time

Into my heart

My life

My dreams

You are my cup of tea

Dear

Fire and Rain by James Taylor

IF I'D KNOWN BACK THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW

If I'd known back then what I know now,

I would never have let you go

It had been far too long since the time before,

that day when you came back once more

and I was happy and so were you ;

no need to question anything

you stayed a while and we caught up,

on family and mundane things

the trappings of the lives we had;

swapped memories of school day pains

and then the time came 'round again

for you to leave and say goodbye

and only now I question why and ask myself if you had known

as I listen for the postman's knock

or the ringing of the telephone

We stood at our ancestral door

with the peeling paint and penknife scores

we loved to pick when we were kids

and mark our heights in felt pen wars

red for you and green for me, an endless childhood reverie

and it's still scarred from all the scrapes of boots and satchels,

ice-skates, penknives; childhood battles

and I clung on tight and wished you well

and you said don't worry all is well;

you'd never leave so long again

as you ran out in the pouring rain.

If I'd known back then what I know now,

I would never have let you go.

I would have clung on tight and begged you stay,

where you'd be sheltered from harm's way

I watched you until you were just a speck

and the light was dim and playing tricks,

like it sometimes still does in certain light

and I think I see you in the distant night,

coming round the country lane,

where we used to play hide and seek

and I wish those days were here again;

I wish for a moment to hear you speak

If' I'd known back then what I know now,

I would never have let you go

This is the longest game we ever played,

this endless waiting in the shade

and I still can't find you, you hid so well

and the fiery path that blazed a trail

has long gone cold and the clues I had, are misty in my mind

like memories of childhood days

and long, hot Summers and the squeals we made

when unexpected showers fell

from darkened skies down in the dell

and we ran like gazelles to that old barn

and waited for the sun to shine

The barn burned down on a stormy night

and the heavy rain just let it happen

until there was nothing left from our childhood days

except scattered memories charred and blackened.

If I'd known back then what I know now,

I would never have let you go

and I'm still waiting for the day to come,

when another you comes marching home.

Will I recognise the grown up you;

you were just half boy, half man back then

and I'm still waiting for the rain to pass

and I'm still waiting for the sun to shine

and I'm still clinging to that old house

even though it lays so empty now,

except for echoes of our last goodbye

still speak to me when I stop by …

no thought

can push the thought of you

aside,

no diversion

distracts me

from your presence,

first and last of my thoughts

around, around

I dream of you

as you wake to me

I can only fall in love

so far

before I hit ground,

but you never leave me

to love myself

something must break

the bars of this cage

before what I am is broken

II.

I look within

with eyes that are hands

that bind the shattered—

hold together man

with gauze

with glue

with string

the pieces of my self

apart — together

III.

If your feet,

that are wings,

fall asleep

inside you,

wake them,

soar,

let your friends

be the wind,

rest

at the back of the ‘V’

if your mind

were a sheet

unfurl it

—a sail on the sea—

make straight

for the sun,

for love,

wherever

it takes you

The morning is full of storm

in the heart of summer.

The clouds travel like white handkerchiefs of goodbye,

the wind, travelling, waving them in its hands.

The numberless heart of the wind

beating above our loving silence.

Orchestral and divine, resounding among the trees

like a language full of wars and songs.

Pablo Neruda, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair

I hid my love to my despite

Till I could not bear to look at light;

I dare not gaze upon her face

But left her memory in each place;

Where’er I saw a wild flower lie

I kissed and bade my love goodbye.

Insert from, "I hid My Love" by John Clare

Antun Gustav Matoš (1873 –1914) was a Croatian poet, short story writer, journalist, essayist and travelogue writer. He is considered the champion of Croatian modernist literature, opening Croatia to the currents of European modernism. Although not born in Zagreb, Matoš grew to become one of the city’s greatest enthusiasts, writing frank and outspoken newspaper columns that extolled the bohemian life of the city. He also wrote some of the best-loved poems in the Croatian language (like The Solace of Hair, below), and is remembered as something of an archetypal rebel and dreamer. Ivan Kožarić’s sculpture of Matoš (in the photo) was placed on Strossmayer Promenade in 1978, showing the poet sitting on a bench and soaking in the view of central Zagreb.

The Solace of Hair

I stared at you last night. Asleep. Dejected. Dead.

In hall dark, ominous, in idyll full of bloom,

On elevated bier, midst candlelit gloom,

Resolv’d to sacrifice my own long life instead.

I didn’t cry. Did not. Just stopped, too stunned, like stone,

In hall dark, ominous, yet full of death so dear,

In doubt the eyes once dark this night would still be clear,

from which for me alas a better life once shone.

All dead indeed, all dead: the eyes, the breath, the hands,

All that desperately I wished I could restore,

In blinding agony, at frenzied woe’s commands.

In hall dark, ominous, in thoughts all gray and sore,

Your hair alone was though the one last shred alive,

And said: Be at peace. In death indeed dreams thrive.

"whatever you do,

wherever you go,

whatever you say,

think of me...

as our heart beats together!"

the geek behind the curtain: all shots in this photomanipulation were taken and developed by me using a hand-held compact camera and the free open-source graphics software called GIMP.

little E and i went out to the walmart parking lot over the weekend to take photos. we hadn't done that before. now for some reason that parking lot is nearly always filled with birds. often seagulls. but we seemed to be there at the wrong time. just a few blackbirds and sparrows. this shot was the last shot of the afternoon before the 15 mps winds, oncoming stormclouds, and her goosebumps made us retreat. it turns out i depressed the shutter for a bit too long and got two consecutive shots that, according to the EXIF/properties data, were both taken during the exact same second. so i blended those 2 shots together to start with.

and that got me thinking about the BBC reports of the new spin-up and reboot of the Large Hadron Collider, and how very tiny particles can sometimes be in more than one place at the same moment, and apparently also very tiny birds. so, with apologies to CERN, this is a bit of multi-dimensional thinking demonstrated by one blackbird and one sparrow which is in 2 places during the same second.

Just messing and flexing my Ps muscles as best I can.

some photographs speak to me in ways i can’t quite describe. here, the details aren’t crisp, but the light and flow create a mood. this is my love poem to autumn.

In your light I learn to love,

In your beauty, how to make poems

You dance inside my chest,

where no one sees you,

but sometimes I do, and that

sight becomes this art.

~ Rumi

The minute I heard my first love story,

I started looking for you, not knowing

how blind that was.

Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.

They're in each other all along.

__RUMI
