....the next best reflection. I thought the way the reflected glare from the water layered the tree trunks through the pond made the position of the geese appear transcendant.
In any case it was a lovely day......
Windows Vista tip: My computer had been slowing way down. I run Vista and there is a widget on the desktop that shows processor usage that was pegging out. I talked to one of the guys I work with that's in IS and he told me to try downloading / running Adobe Shockwave uninstaller. It worked like a charm. ( Thank you Kevin Marshall, you rock !!) I guess there was a stuck install ?? Definitely a bug with Adobe and Vista.. I have not re-installed Shockwave yet but have not come across an application where I need it. I was told to re-install if I do. It's a wierd one so I thought I'd pass it along considering the dramatic performance increase I experienced and how difficult it was to find.
Have a lovely day...
The blue sky and lovely fall colors are behind us now. Colorful water reflections will be difficult to find.
I was asked about the exposure data on this photo. The EXIF was stripped during processing and the only relevant thing I can tell you is that I hit the shot with a polarizer looking right at the sun ( which probably did nothing ) and fired my sb-400 flash...
Happy day to you ..... :D
A fine looking Canadian Goose navigating reflections on Kendall Lake in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
View large to get anything out of it. Grabbed this one this morning from a bridge over the Ohio & Erie Canalway. Just a little bit of the morning light had reached the water.
Took the day off work today to get a few projects done around the house. Took a few minutes to watch this misty sunrise for a change. There wasn't as much sky color as I might have liked to see but the mist across the meadow makes it work for me. Long exposure.
A lovely afternoon at the Beaver Marsh. The Beaver Marsh is a beaver made lake that is acres in diameter. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park park service constructed a boardwalk through the middle of it. Where this marsh is now used to be a junk yard. An incredible example of nature reclaiming itself.
If you look at one of the bigger sizes you can take away more from this. There is more detail in this one than in some of the others. I originally passed on this one because I thought all the floating macro algae was distracting, but came back to it after a second look. When taking this picture there is no right way to focus. You can sharpen the reflections in the water or leave them subdued, either way these are wonderfully soothing images to create...
A Chicago building on Jackson St. at 300 S. Riverside Plaza....;-)) ( Thank you to my lovely contact www.flickr.com/photos/ekovalev/ for providing a building ID ) FYI.. She has many many wonderful Chicago landmark photos in her inventory...
This is a picture I have attempted to manipulate many times and gone away frustrated. I posted the original and if you would like to try please be my guest....
These shots were taken at the Niagara Falls, Ontario Butterfly Conservatory. A must see if you go to Canada for a trip to the falls.
Portrait of a rescued dog at the Humane Society of Greater Akron, OH. His lip was split pretty bad when he came in but it looks like he'll never know.....;-). This is a re-crop of a picture I posted some months ago so excuse me if you have seen it before...
This shot was taken at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Bath Rd at the Heron Rookery. I posted one shot back in the stream of one of the trees (of which there are about five) filled with Heron nests. I did a quick count and figure there is nearly 60 nests active. They draw a pretty good crowd. A 300mm ( which I do not have ) will put you easily inside a nest if you get on top of the car...I didn't notice until I took another look but there are five here.......:D
