I bought these books at an estate sale more than a few years ago. On the inside it says that they are MacMillan's Pocket American and English Classics, The Macmillan Company, New York and London. The Macbeth book's copyright date is 1898, reprinted in 1909, the Julius Caesar's copyright date is 1900, reprinted in 1908 and the Poe's Prose book is copyrighted in 1901 and reprinted in 1911. I love antique books. Handwritten in pencil in one of them says "Mildred Murphy, 'Nov. 5, "10".

The Author Amos Oz once said that though if literature and gossip would pass one another on the street, they would never greet each other with: 'hello', actually they are cousins: Both satisfy a deep and never satisfied human concern: to what extent I am unique and different? versus: to what extent I am like all the rest, I am 'normal'?

I wonder what future is in store for each of these young women. Their lives will not be the same but I hope their friendship will last forever.

The feel and smell of an older book always soothes me. This one belonged to my father when he was a boy. It's well-loved pages show the passage of use and time.

The books on my nightstand are piling up... literally!

These are all books I am reading at the moment or I bought with the intention to read. I got four today.. I have a sickness!

What's on your nightstand?

Thanks for taking the time to view my image.
