Okay, last chain photo for awhile, I promise. :) But man, do those welds intrigue me.

Kennt ihr diese Frage am Morgen? Gehe ich den linken Weg oder den rechten Weg? Laufe ich Richtung Monduntergang oder Sonnenaufgang?

Ich habe mich für den Monduntergang entschieden...

The Links, Aberdeen, Scotland

Both of these properties have served as the club house for the Cheltenham and Cotswold Hills Golf Clubs since the golf course on Cleeve Hill was laid out in 1891.

The Cheltenham Club ceased to exist in 1935, and the Cotswold Hills Club moved on to fairways new in the 1970s. The links-style golf course still ranges across Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds, and the Cleeve Hill Golf Club has its own club house now.

These two properties are now privately owned houses. The blue one, having once served as a Youth Hostel, is two semi-detached properties, one of which is advertised on Airbnb.

The views from here across the Severn valley to the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills are spectacular, but my attempts to capture them with the camera are so far anything but; all I've got for my efforts is cold and wet.

The price the residents have to pay for those views is dragging their bins 200 yards (or metres) to the nearest proper road and more severe wear and tear on their vehicles than your average suburban residents experience with their namby-pamby paved roads.

The sheep is worth a mention too. The two times I've been here with my camera I've been surrounded, literally surrounded, by sheep, every single one of which is showing me its butt. I swear it's a coordinated act of sheep defiance in the face of centuries of domestication and the invention of mint sauce. This is the one sheep that was polite enough to face me. For that it gets to be the first living creature to appear in the c.100 photos I've uploaded. Take a bow Shaun.

Back to the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley tomorrow. I was back there today as well, but so was a significant proportion of the Atlantic Ocean, and I did not feel like exploring just how rain-proof a Nikon D7100 is.
