We turned off our lights and lit some candles...and thought this was a good time to enjoy a glass of wine..and then I remembered I had just bought a cross star 8 point filter last week and here was a great chance to use it.

A nice surprise...i worked late today then had a very quick supper and went to photography club....when I got home I saw this had made it to #7 and FRONT PAGE, thanks to comments from Denis and Strength from Above...you guys are great!!!!!

Praying that there will be some light in the lives of those who have lost their dear children and loved ones. As a school counsellor I pray I never have to go through anything this insane in my workplace, and that no one else ever has to experience this again.

even the lights went out,

the road goes nowhere

dark end

Thank you all!

This much-photographed panorama is composed of four shots taken at Museum campus, Adler Planetarium, and cropped to an aspect ratio of 3:1 for future printing. The Shedd aquarium & Field museum on the left and the Navy pier on the right are not included for a clear view of skyscrapers. The Smurfit-Stone Building (aka Diamond Building), One Prudential Plaza, Two Prudential Plaza (with stacked chevron setbacks), Aon Center, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower (with four rows of red-green lights) are adjacent to the Millennium park. The purple light between Prudential plazas is Jay Pritzker Pavilion. The Two Prudential Plaza looks magnificent from this perspective.

While looking for information on Chicago skyline light display, I found that the city would go dark for bird safety during migratory bird seasons (www.birdmonitors.net/LightsOut.php).

Will come back again for clear sky and low wind for reflections.

hurricane sandy leaves NYC in the dark but the flat iron building never looked more beautiful

As the lights went out all across Europe on August 4th to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the first world war, the Knockagh War Memorial that overlooks Carrickfergus was lit up for an hour from 10pm to 11pm to mark the event...

An empty walking tunnel in Singapore. This is how you cross the street around the Singapore river, these tunnels actually are built under the streets.

I had set up my tripod and was just about to press the shutter release, when the lights in the Houses of Parliament went out for an hour, in support of Earth Day 2014...

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held worldwide annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the last Saturday in March, as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.

You see, I realized that I'm the kind of guy who, when having a good time, worries too much about it coming to an end that sometimes I just "miss" all the fun!

It's a bad habit, but I can't help it.

Any suggestions?

I still like early mornings though. So serene and peaceful.

Short days... long nights...two months long cold snap...wind that goes through to my bones. That's it, my brain and body have kicked in power saving mode. Can't make out colors anymore...only faint souvenirs of colors in sepia...need the Sun's warmth...now...sleep...need rest...must not flat line.................please wake me up in Spring............................
