SECRET OF LIFE ..

YOU GET WHAT YOU CONCENTRAT UPON ..

THERE IS NO OTHER MAIN RULE ..

therefore, as always, make of this voice what you choose to make of it…

make of me what you choose to make of me, but recognize within yourselves the vitality of your being….

and look to no man or no idea or no woman or no dogma..

but the vitality of your own being, and trust it.

And that which offends your soul, turn away from, but trust yourself

(Seth)

In the true sense, everyone is alone in the journey of life. So friends, carry a light burden, and a happy soul to make the journey easier !

"Life is good, because within its realm, anything is possible.

Life is good, because no matter how far we fall,

there is always a way to climb back up again...

and we will know joy when we give it a place to resonate within our heart....

Therefore, whatever it is we desire, give it a place within us to be."

Life so delicate, we all depend on water. Here i am holding it suspended in time.

"Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain."

Never say there is nothing beautiful in the world anymore. There is always something to make you wonder in the shape of this tree, the trembling of a leaf. In this Tree of Life

Life delights life....

Poet William Blake once wrote

For everything that lives is holy, life delights in life.

Can you guess who this is and what she delights in life and who she see's?

The Rolling Stones has been one of my favorite rock groups and a photo on flickr was captioned As Tears Go By. All around the world, once again...there are joy and there are tears. I just decided to put this song up those who care to listen....As Tears Go By....Rolling Stones.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A face that looks to have seen a great deal of life and an expression that caught my eye for this shot. Enjoy!

"As autumn returns to earth's northern hemisphere,

and day and night are briefly,

but perfectly,

balanced at the equinox,

may we remember anew how fragile life is ----

human life, surely,

but also the lives of all other creatures,

trees and plants,

waters and winds.

May we make wise choices in how and what we harvest,

may earth's weather turn kinder,

may there be enough food for all creatures,

may the diminishing light in our daytime skies

be met by an increasing compassion and tolerance

in our hearts."

- Kathleen Jenks, Autumn Lore

This picture was originally pretty dark and hence I had to push the shadows quite a bit. Even though it's not the most prettiest image, I really like it in combination with the quote above. I hope you like it too!

Rather life in iceland. The two wanderers in the middle are easy prey for the hungry mosquitos living in the sulfur fields of the Mývatn area.

I've snapped this tree on a couple of occasions recently. Yesterday, as I passed by, the setting sun was highlighting the tree against contrastingly dark clouds. I also like the contrast of the lush, living ivy growing on the trunk of its dead host.

I remember my grandfather once telling me that ivy eventually kills the tree it climbs. Looking at this dead specimen, I can see why he would have thought so. However, as it turns out, this is not the case.

According to the Woodland Trust, ivy is not a parasitic plant and has a separate root system in the soil and so absorbs its own nutrients and water. In fact, its presence has huge wildlife benefits.

At least 50 species are associated with it. Both the pollen and berries can be an essential source of food for many insects and birds and ivy provides shelter for invertebrates, birds, small mammals and bats.

Ivy uses trees and walls for support, allowing it to reach upwards to better levels of sunlight. So, the dead tree in this picture is actually providing a much needed foundation from which new life continues to spring.

That's a great illustration of what God has done for us through the sacrificial death of His Son, the Lord Jesus:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

I suspect I am using my photography/artwork, writing, and music in the service of, once again, seeking my purpose in life. These are – without a doubt – far better strategies to employ than drugs, alcohol, reckless titillation, or random and casual sex, mistaking all to be connection, comfort and intimacy (nothing wrong with any of it - just been there; done that, except for the alcohol part).

Almost anything can, does, and will - should we so desire - fill a void inside of us. But voids within are delicate wounds and should not be filled so haphazardly. Today's internal void - poorly treated - can become tomorrow's "through-and-through," an unfillable bullet-hole where a heart or emotion once lived.

Now, it appears I have decided, consciously or not, to seek to work out my life in front of you. It feels…comfortable; normal, even.. Your participation comes in choosing to either read, or not read, what I write. Some of you offer words of encouragement or echo similar thoughts about your lives; past or present. For that sharing, I most humbly thank you.

At this time, my life is in flux: it has been for about 2 years. I know I’ve felt such a tender and aching loneliness and disconnection from this life at other times in my past (certainly during those teenaged, angst years), but I don’t remember having felt like this anytime over the last 20 years or so.

Mentally, emotionally and spiritually I’ve only recognized this recently, although I’ve felt a serious and mysterious disturbance in the Force (my Force) for some time. Only my art, writing, and music have provided internal solace.

Even fishing is not quite the soothing opiate I mainlined for so many years as a buffer against external (and internal) stress.

But, recognition is the first step - and I do recognize. I am moving forward. The journey of thousand miles - towards light, enlightenment, honesty, openness, love, intimacy and joy - has begun with some small, but straight-forward and strong steps onto a new path.

Hey, I don’t do nuthin’ half-way or half-ass. For better or worse, it’s “all or nothing at all.”

I am sure this path will have its share of twists and turns, rises and dips, zigs and zags, bumps and bruises; as well as spots of smooth and easy sailing when the ride will be effortless and the view, breath-taking. Should it be any other way? Nah.

I am not clear how my imagery figures into this: the subjects I choose, how I choose to process them, the way in which I present them to you. But, I know it does (and some are a joy to photograph and eat).

Such as the image above. Besides tasting heavenly this time of year, the rich color and vibrancy, shape, form, texture, implies (to me) sexuality (life force), sensuality and fecundity. Cherries, and other such sweet, ripe, colorful fruit seem of particular value to my artist’s eye and being.

Coles Bay - Tasmania

Sometimes in life you feel completely at peace with how it's all going and at other times in turmoil. Over the last 3 years I've had my share of problems and It's only in the last 3 months, have I felt like my luck has finally turned. My business is back on track, my beautiful wife is due to give birth to our third child and my photography is starting to take off.

Spending the last 5 days with a great bunch of guys circumnavigating Tasmania, spending every waking hour shooting this amazing island, has been an experience I'll treasure forever. You really couldn't ask for a better weekend of photography, great company, awesome food and a sense that I've not only made new friends but strengthened the bond with old ones.

The next trip can not come soon enough.
